I agree with you in theory but that means either we need to find a way to trade Brooks or FVV or we cut their minutes significantly. Current roster has limited minutes for Reed and no minutes for Cam - hard to "see what we have" when there isn't enough playing time for all the young guys....
I am not sure what we can get from Steven Adams next year. Jeff green will be gone, so Adams takes Jeff green role. Landale is inconsistent. It would be good to have an energetic rim runner type to diversify. Not a priority though. I am looking to replace fvv first and figure out what to do with Jabari.
We have approximately $72M in expiring contracts that we can use to acquire a Superstar from a team looking to blowup their roster. With our current team's chemistry, I would not trade Alpi, Jalen Green, or Tari... Of course, Giannis is at the top of our wish-list. I would trade Jabari, Amen, Cam, multiple 1st round picks for Giannis (we have to keep our best perimeter shooters for spacing if we get Giannis). We could make an attempt at Lauri Markkanen -> trade Jabari, Reed, Cam, 1st round pick for Markkanen Sleeper trade: if the Knicks continue to struggle, I could see KAT being on the market to get out of his contract and replenish draft pick -> Jabari, Brooks, Landale, multiple picks for KAT. Sleeper trade: FVV for Trae Young...similar contract dollar amount. We get another playmaker and the Hawks get an expiring contract of FVV
Im not trading Amen, but that last trade is intriguing. I wonder if they’ll ask for Bari as well. If so they can have him.
No body is going to gift us a great player. So I'm not on board with dumping anybody just because they are going through growing pains. With that said I would love for us to pick up a center through the draft and a back up power forward in free agency that Jabari can learn from. Next year I'm down to trade Fred if we can get some assets but that's probably unlikely if it looks like we will make the playoffs.
lol this entire thread is just so realistic. These gm’s watch games. They know who our better players are. They know Jabari is a bust. This ain’t nba2@. A real trade for a star is going to involve Sengun, Tari or Amen
The Rox are clearly showcasing Green and stashing Cam - so they are building up Jalen to trade him.......the problem is that his contract is small until this summer - so you would need to combine him with a larger contract to get value....and there are no stars available or even NEAR stars, but are there potential stars like Harden out there? Maybe at PF? DD
Everyone needs one of those man. Hoping the Grizzlies fail and stupidly decide to trade JJJ. He would be such an elite role player here. That's how they've been creating all the space for Ja these years. Brook Lopez is available if you were thinking more like a bench guy. He's only available because he's declined a bit but would be great for the bench. But then we don't need Adams. Speaking which, Adams is one of my favorite players, but for the life of me I can't figure out why they didn't get a vertical threat or 3pt threat as Sengun's backup. We have Amen and Green, having the option of going 4-out or 5-out is so important. At least Adams is running a solid PnR with Jalen.
To get Giannis, we'll definitely part ways with Amen, possibly Jalen Green as well if Cam show some maturity this year
So who’s going to pay sg? the the spacing is going to Be terrible and you need more salary to make this work
I’d like to avoid tanking the value of our young assets, namely Bari. He’s going to be on the bench a lot more with the emergence of Amen and Tari. I just don’t see how that helps his value. We always knew we couldn’t develop and pay all of our core prospects. Bari is the closest prospect to being extension eligible and his rookie cap hold is pretty high since he was a top pick. At this point I think he’d have real value to a rebuilding team but the longer we wait the less value he’ll have. I’d be looking to trade Bari, Tate and a protected draft pick for a really good shooter or rim protector before the trade deadline.
