I love the effort, physicality, and defense. But we have a stretch 4 that can’t shoot and a shooting guard that can’t shoot. That’s not gonna get it done.
NOW WE NEED JALEN GREEN TO GET BACK ONBOARD! If JG and Alperen start rolling like they can, and Amen and Tari continue to be the bash bros, this team is going to surprise people. 50 wins! Come on JG!!! We NEED those threes so damn badly.
I was thinking about starting a Sengun apology form as a comedic counter to this thread, but after seeing the results of this one, I'm glad I didn't jinx Sengun like that.
100%! All who have locked themselves into a player silo should come out and just become Houston Rockets fans.
his numbers currently aren’t any better than his previous seasons he’s started the year a lot better than he did the previous season, but he was atrocious pre-ASB last season so that isn’t saying much he has no midrange game and is still just a volume chucker from 3 shooting below average on almost 9 attempts a game it doesn’t seem possible for him to be efficient…no midrange, below average from 3, and doesn’t get to the line that much…How could he do it? I’m not seeing any 4th year leap
I'm waiting to see this big leap Green has made. He's alright, nothing has changed from what he has been.
He's better on defense. He was basically complete trash and is now decent. It's not like he's caruso out there or anything close to that, but he's not a huge liability which is nice. The offense has been brutal though, i think at this point it's not fair to call him "inconsistent". He's actually pretty consistent, just his base level on offense is really bad.
This is what happens when you somehow get millions of followers during high school somehow (PR machine?) and those casual babes that think this is basketball are now force feeding us this idea that he'll be a number #1 or some franchise guy or something and glaze him to the max over a dunk when he's having a horrible game. The probability is still not 0, mind you, there are some base traits there - and using the word trait here on purpose because skills and fundamentals are still weak to passable, but is fast approaching that. Oh he also has aura - so #Y5ITNY3? On a more serious note, it's not JG that's the problem here - something stans on all sides fail to understand is they are making their favorite player look worse, not better, with cringey apology forms and stay on that side rhetoric. I think he also gets a lot of flack because our FO just doesn't want to admit any top pick as a failure and keeps clinging on to them and tries to make them happen at the expense of other players. JG seems more aware of where he is thankfully than a lot of folks here, and showed great flashes of playing off-ball next to Sengun at points (one game?) this year and my overall conclusion is it's a so-so start for him so far - slightly better than last year, at least doesn't completely disappear on an off-night and is playing some defense. I am increasingly thinking he'll be a Jamal Murray type of guy in terms of impact and issues and whatnot - some might see this as a failure, some might think it's a success, depends on your expectations of him.
People are still doing mental gymnastics looking for what makes him play good lol. Put in Amen...no Sengun....no Tari....maybe Adams...!....OK well maybe it's against bad defenses....no it's against good defenses.... He's going to play good again for a bit. Then he's going to play bad again for a while. Like he always has. At this point I'm just hoping he continues to play good defense and keeps the turnovers to a minimum.
