This is a great post. Let me tell you a little story about institutional knowledge. Texas A&M used to have a giant bonfire every year before the Texas game. It was run by students - underclassmen. As they moved from freshmen to seniors their responsibilities changed until the seniors ran the show. This was officially an all student affair, but there was a construction science professor that unofficially made sure they weren't doing anything stupid. This man left for a new university in 1995 and no one took over his unofficial role. By the time the seniors in 1999 were in charge, exactly 4 years later, they were mimicking the way they had built the bonfire several years earlier, but didn't know why. It turns out they built it wrong and it collapsed killing 11 students. Now lets apply this story to food and drug safety or thousands of other unknown things where someone you never heard of is in charge of something critical you didn't know existed. Yes, people will die.
Agreed with this post, both the GOP/Dems are crooked to the core. The Deep State is a bunch of unelected officials that are holding onto power from within.
I I thought about this a bit because it was a sincere statement, and you and I do go back. I've been dipping my toe into the D&D for over five years now. Generally it was just smartass comments but I do posit my opinion from time to time. Before this I tended to get sick about politics, but I've grown as a person and felt that some of the things going on that I needed to speak to. Yes, the election was a trigger event. I was trying to understand it, and posting helps me. I do understand now why Harris and the Democrats lost big time- they don't listen to everyone, and I wasn't either. I was in my own self-imposed echo chamber. I won't be anymore. I appreciate the mutual respect. We grow and change as people over the years. I've certainly watched your wheels drift towards the right over the years and I have no qualms with that. I have friends with all sorts of belief systems and I'm cool with it until it until what they are saying is outright lies or bigoted or evil or will cause others suffering. Then I feel the need to speak up. The Woke thing is f*cking tired. It's like someone saying 'NOT!' 30 years after the fad is over and still thinking it's the height of humor. We get it, you don't like people who are different. Go back 50 years and an earring on a man was 'Woke', even more so, and they would have gotten their asses beat in most parts of the country for it. But times change. You don't have to like it, but getting on a podium and saying the same thing over and over again isn't constructive. We get it. So I called everyone here out on my post by saying it's gay. Why did I say it was gay? Because we used to call stupid **** gay back in the day, and it's something that will trigger anti-Woke people to at least pay attention. If you're my friend or someone I respect, I will check you, in person, just like I did in my post. It's not out of distain, it's because I care about what you are saying because you mean something to me. You, @AroundTheWorld and a few other right-leaning folks here get that kind of respect from me because you're not complete frothing cultists. The others I block because it has just become too much and I don't really care to even bother with them. So I apologize if what I said was offensive to you- I hope you understand what I was doing now.
You shouldn't apologize. Everyone knows you are yanking his chain. He's displaying faux outrage - victim culture - just like they accuse the left of doing. And I agree, the term woke is lazy and virtue signaling - again what they accuse the left of doing. You see the word woke and you immediately know which side they are on. The victimhood on the left can be discussed in an intelligent manner, but they resort to saying you're woke to try and shut down, ridicule, and virtue signal. Doing it back is perfectly fine. You're showing his hypocrisy in a way.
