There's been plenty of team who has and gotten better. Let him be another team's treasure. All that said, I know they won't fire him and he'll be here all year. Let's see how it goes when Nico is back next game... I'll bet we'll follow the trend we've set all season and have adjustment issues in the 2nd half. Then afterwards, they'll come out and repeat the same things that have been said before, only to do it again the next game.
Who is coming to save us Jerrod Johnson, Bill Lazor, CASE KEENUM?? Joe Brady may have confused some guys thinking its as simple as changing a signal caller and POOF magically things are better. Its a lot easier when you do that with a 6 year veteran All Pro QB. Do what the Bears are doing since they ARE actually dealing with a bottom tier offense being run by a rookie? Just relax bro. Take a step back. Breathe in. Count to 10. Breathe out. Ahhhhhh. Better right? There are alot of things that contribute to a bad offense. We have a knock your dick in the dirt defense. They will keep us in most ballgames. A healthy Nico combined with an angry Joe Mixon is a good start to a playoff offense.
I hear what you're saying, and I don't disagree inherently. But there's a big gap between "keeping things as they are" and "blowing it up". If they want to keep Slowik through the season for stability, then fine, I'm good with that. But then they HAVE to change the process, open things up, move away from the insistence to run the scheme come hell or high water, and let CJ grip it and rip it in a hurry-up style offense. Lining up in tight formations, and trying to bully ball your way down the field has done nothing, and it's asinine that they keep trying.
Nico makes all of those things you have a concern with that much better: Open things up - we cant run the full offense without a deep threat who can carry two guys with him down field. The defenses have started to cramp the middle of the progressions knowing that. We hardly get any curl or square in action in soft zones because of it. Nico can be used as a decoy and moving him pre snap will give CJ a better clue to what the defense is trying to do. DCs dont respect any of our current WRs. Run Scheme - Continuing from above when a DC knows you arent a threat to pass what happens. Crowded boxes. Over eager defenses. Having a true threat to throw to will allow for draws and more creative running options. Grip it and Rip it - this is where I would agree. Situationally muddled huddles should be used to take advantage of defensive personnel, but have you guys seen how many guys we alternate in and out after every play? I'd ask about that if I was reporting on the team and why a set offensive group cant get a full series without substitutions. Give these guys a few weeks to gel we havent even hit our bye week yet.
Because Slowik is a moron. This dude rode the coattails of Shannahan, McVay, LaFleur. He's like the cheerleader effect of coaches. If you are an ugly girl surrounded by hot girls, you look better than you are.
Lets play a game. Who would you guys choose as the OC here next season? I'll go first. Will Stein - OC Oregon
Than change play callers or get some one to assist him... "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" T_Man
Who is going to assist CJ in focusing on open receivers instead of guessing during game defining moments? Maybe we should fire the QB coach too?
Gary Kubiak. Not much of a HC but that dude knows offense and an elite talent like CJ he would make him ever better.
This has been an under-the-radar concern: I wouldn't say Diggs was washed - but he clearly wasn't the threat he once was. And Dell has regressed and/or not been fully healthy. Maybe (hopefully) Metchie is able to finally make the leap - but without Nico, these WRs don't threaten teams so it's significantly easier to limit Mixon, especially when we have leads and Ryans/Slowick want to play safer.
I dunno... Maybe a stupid answer would be the QB Coach... I mean that's usually the OC is the QB coach.... You keep blaming any and every one but Bobby S, so either you are a hugggggggggggge fan, a relative, a friend or Bobby himself... I know you hate to hear this, but Bobby is this biggest problem with this offense right now, with the Lions game... All he had to do was change up his play calling.. Stop being so predictable.. I have yet to see a draw play, I have yet to see a screen play... Glenn was determined to stop the run and the 2nd half Bobby was determined to run the ball.. Change up and do quick routes.. Get 4 to 5 yards and set your self up for 3 and short.... Once you start doing the quick stop and pop you then open up the post or fly routes. The WC system is all about taking what the defense gives you... T_Man
Payne and Pendergast brought up bringing back Kubs as a veteran Offensive mind and presence today. I wouldn’t mind it but I’m wondering if current NFL offensive philosophies have moved past Kubs. Mike McCarthy is considered an offensive wizard but that Dallas offense looks so ‘old school’. Those 2010s offenses look dared tbh.
I would love for him to assist.. Basically, let Bobby keep his plays, but let GK him to learn how to manage, change and adapt.. Right now Bobby, is struggling and trying to learn on the fly... He doesn't need someone taking over his duties, just an assist... T_Man
