The Wizards aren't even trying to win. They are in a totally different place than the Rockets, who are actually an above-average team with something to play for. Can you even understand that?

What a joke! This is comment so silly it doesn't even deserve a response, especially after 11 games, especially since Reed's minutes are ramping up.

It sounds like you looked away at the wrong time. There was a 5 minute stretch where he was aggressively looking for his jumper and scored 7 points on three consecutive makes.

And he also dribbled competently in order to create those shots, so definitely not like Jabari.

I do like watching Reed shoot, and it was looking like he was off to the races yesterday with 3 straight shots, but then it’s almost like if he misses 1, he’s more shy about taking another shot.

At the end of the 3rd (about 30 seconds left), someone went back door on him and caught him ball watching. Wide open layup. Ime and Ben Sullivan looked furious (Ben seemed to throw down the paper he was holding). Interestingly, after those 30 seconds, we never saw him again. I do realize accountability, but man I do hope they didn’t just sit him for that. Everyone makes mistakes, and he obviously gives full effort defensively, even if he is sometimes overmatched due to his size. Just found that interesting.

Reed hasn't looked nowhere near a liability like Jabari offensively and defensively. Play the damn kid Ime.

The defense was an issue before that play though. I think the Wizards hunted for the switch on Reed 4 possessions in a row and scored on every one of them.

Thanks. I saw in the boxscores that he made three shots, one of them a 3 which I saw in a short gif someone posted. Didn't see the two middies. Look great. Why doesn't he do it more? It just blows my mind.

He doesnt really get the ball to initiate all that much. Jalen and Sengun always get priority, and then Thompson and then Brooks.

He's also not aggressively asking for the ball either.

A 7'+ guy shooting over 50%???? Wow!

Just messing with you. ;) Clingan would have been a dumb pick because center is the best and deepest position on this team. Shep was the right pick.

Looking at Amen’s boxscores from last year, it’s surprising that even in the middle of the year he was still getting less than 10 minutes or 12 minutes of playing time occasionally. It was not until Sengun’s injury that Amen got consistent big minutes the last 20 games of the year. That is to say, Ime is going to build Reed up slowly and we will just have to be patient. As a player, Reed is still playing far too passively and trying to not make mistakes instead of attacking, it’s a bit disappointing for those who were super high on him like myself but should not be surprising as a rookie point guard which is toughest position to learn. With that said, over the last 4 games he’s shooting 53% from the field and 43% from 3 so signs are he is starting to settle in. And with Whitmore in the g league it is proof that a rotation spot on this team is hard to come by so the trust given to Reed already is encouraging.

I love Amen. But with Fred out, Reed is the better choice for initiating. Somehow, Amen stopped looking to pass this season. He has some of that Cam tunnel vision going to the basket.

Yeah I've noticed that as well. I'm not too worried because I don't believe Amen is an inherently selfish player and he may just be exploring some parts of his game but he definitely has more tunnel vision this year. As far as Reed goes, he does need to be more assertive but it was also frustrating watching him make those shots and then essentially getting frozen out by the rest of the team. He needed to see the ball more. Some of that is on him but the team needs to look for him too. Especially after he found a rhythm

On Clingan being a dumb pick, if it is, it has nothing to do with who is on the team. I think Clingan will end up be better than at least 1 if not more of the guys selected before him.

I am very happy with Reed.

As other have pointed out, he looked more aggressive yesterday and was able to make a noticeable impact during his minutes. Liked how he got himself into a rhythm with those 2 middies off PnR and then dribbled into that fast break 3. I would be making sure he gets similar attempts every time he plays.

Kind of a mixed bag defensively. Had a bad possession where the team gave up an easy backdoor cut where he may have been responsible either communicating or tagging the cutter. Still gets pushed around by most ball handlers but I think you just live with that until he's able to build strength in the offseason. I think he still has the potential to grade out as a positive defender his rookie year, but realistically probably falls closer to neutral / mediocre.

As it stands he's 24th in minutes per game among rookies (12.0 mpg and trending up). Pretty much every player in front of him is on a team with a losing record. The only other winning rookies in front are Zach Edey, Jaylen Wells, Ajay Mitchell, and Ryan Dunn, who all have multiple years of college/juco experience. Of course, still early in the season so we'll see if this holds up.

I think its easy to get caught up in the "rookie race" and all the highlights and stats that come with it, but take a step back and realize Reed is currently the only one and done player getting solid rotation minutes on a winning team. Results so far haven't been as pronounced as many have hoped, but I think its an overall good indicator of his talent and future development.

Sheppard would absolutely be wrecking havoc had the Spurs drafted him.
