I'm not sure I follow the OP's point. We'll have plenty of flexibility to resign Tari so long as we don't make any crazy moves, regardless of what contract he demands. Hell, he could sign a max and we'd be okay so long as FVV is not on the books. Just to emphasize, I ran a cap analysis where (1) we opt into FVV's contract next year and let him walk after that; (2) don't resign Bari; and (3) sign Tari to the max. Even at the max, we're fine, and Brooks' contract comes off after 2026 - 2027. Green and Sengun's contracts gave us a lot of flexibility going forward to lock up our core players.

If he earns it you pay him. I think they know tari’s value and will put him in situations to show his star potential before they make that decision. It would be weird to pay other people and not him when he is consistent. It’s more of a issue when you are paying for potential and not current outcome.

Tari has some Kawhi in him... but it doesn't really matter, you keep your best players, you dump others if money is a concern

    THIS.

Part of why we gave Fred and Dillon the money we did was to be able to package them with rookie contract guys to get a star....or let them walk so we can sign one of our guys to max deals that we can then trade until we get "the guy". The bottom line is - until someone on this roster turns into a 'leads the team every game" player - all of them are potentially trade fodder for any deal that allows us to upgrade.

If I can only keep 1 of tari and Jabari I’m keeping tari and it’s really not close at all. So no, I don’t think so.

If the rockets let Tari go I’d never forgive the organization. So if Stone wants to give near max money to a poor shooting AAU guy instead of paying the real two-way engine of this team, that would demonstrate gross incompetence. With Ime factoring into decisions I just don’t see that happening.

It's just smart business to extend Tari when he's eligible if he continues to perform. You wouldn't even need to pay him $30M/year if he keeps the same bench role. You could extend him for 4 years at $25M/year and still trade him if some superstar is available.

I think Tari is a valuable role player that could become an All Star. The way he impacts the game will deserve a nice paycheck. Smith currently doesn't deserve an extension and FVV will likely have to take less money for long term stability. Dillon is likely to stick around as well, but you could always trade him.

I'm typically correct about just about everything... if you haven't realized that by now, perhaps you have a dissociative disorder.

Tari needs to write "Pay me, Rafael" on his shoes.

It's actually "Pay me, Tilman". Raf doesn't cut the checks.

I don't think the rockets move Tari unless he's the deciding factor in getting a star. Money will not be a factor, he's too good.

It will be more than this. If you can sign him for anything close to this you take it. He has more potential than Jaden Mcdaniels and his average salary is $27M.
