Im buying!! Yes, I'm buying because I see things that others don't see. I missed last nights game but watched it later. I was going through the game thread to see who was doing what and keeping up with the score. And from my first thoughts, I thought Jalen had a horrible game based upon the comments. Watching the first qtr, he made several nice passes to Sengun and others to put them in position to score. Some were made, some were not. That's not his fault. Plus he rebounded! Did he shoot particularly well, no! But he made other plays to effect WINNING. Also, he has been our top score in at least 8 out of our 10 games and you don't want to buy stock? Seriously??
People should take a look at this: https://www.espn.com/nba/hollinger/statistics and realize how bad some of our players are. Tari is a top 5 player at his position, so is Sengun but everyone else? Terrible. When Harden was in his prime, he was leading the league in PER and had multiple starters in top 10 of their own category. The year we won 65 games? We had 3 guys in the top 5 with Harden leading the league. We either need to replace Green or FVV and I'm picking the latter due to age. If we get top 5 SG or PG in PER, this team is a playoff team year in and out.
That actually explains a lot. You certainly see things that others don’t see, things that don’t exist!!! Green was not the top scorer in any of the last 5 games. He tied it for one game where he had terrible efficiency, and more minutes to tie for top scorer. and you managed to blame Sengun somehow. As always top level entertainment
Sengun has a serious decline in decision making prowess. In previous years he looked like a more experienced player compared to his NBA tenure. Now in his 4th year he is making rookie mistakes. Yesterday, him trying to dunk with 10 seconds remaining and getting blocked by Cade could have been a costly mistake. Sometimes it appears as if he is trying to do too much. Last season when he was having a good day, he looked confident and mostly made good decisions. So far this year he is having mental lapses during the games. Don't know whether this has to do with poor coaching. Maybe Udoka subbing him out for extended periods has gotten into Sengun...
It's not coaching. Sengun's basketball IQ just isn't as high as his fans advertise. Given his defensive weaknesses, Udoka is forced to sit him
My son and I were talking about this yesterday. Look at all the teams above us in the standings and even the one below us. None of our players would be the best player on any of those teams. On most of them they wouldn't even be the second best player. That they're actually winning games despite that is impressive. I think we tend to have a very over-inflated view of the value of the players on our roster, because we want them to be that...and they're just not.
You look at efficiency, I look at WINS and LOSSES. Kobe wasn't an efficient player early on. That's not.my concern, besides they are winning ugly at this point. I look at what he brings to winning. The efficiency will come over time. I keep pointing out Sengun because I'm still waiting on your boy to take 3pt shots, to help spread the court. Didn't he worked on that during the Summer? We started the season playing fast, now we're starting to look like last yrs team. If the guards are forced to take 3s, when that's not their strength, because the driving lanes are cluttered, it makes it difficult and they have to take harder shots....watch the game!
that’s a fantastic take! Tari, brooks and green are shooting well. Fvv and bari quite bad. So the lane is clogged only for some players I guess.
Another way is to have your center take MORE 3s, especially if your guards are not a good shooters. Just the THREAT of him making it, will spread the court. 85% - 90% of Sengun's shots are in the paint. The Rockets are playing antiquated basketball. Teams don't play for 2s anymore, they play for 3s.
"Teams don't play for 2's!!!111!!" "But lets have an efficient 2 pt scorer get out of the paint to open up the lane for others to take less efficient two point shots!!!111!!!"
