He’s not getting paid that this season, he’s still on rookie scale till next season so I guess you should be happy that he’s outplaying his MLE-level salary of $12.4m. Basically as long as he’s the 15th best SG in the league it’s worth it. Then next season you’re owed the $36m performance.
That’s ridiculous. He’s locked into a near max contract and this is yr 4. I’ve grown tired of his AAU Iso ball.
Jalen games shooting over 40% from the field: 4 (3-1) Under 40%: 6 (3-3) 3 pt % going to start approaching sub 35%.
lol just now you were saying it’s because of his salary, I’m telling you he’s making $12.5m this season. The way you were looking at it is kind of ridiculous. He’s not going to give you $36m in every single 5-game stretch. He’s led us to more wins than any other player on the roster. That’s why we extended him for 3 years.
I’m overall pleased with Green. His defense has been B+. The offense has leveled out. I’d like to see him drive more.
He had a couple good defensive plays this game but his shooting is still all over the place. If he shoots well, we win, if he shoots poorly we struggle hard.
One would argue he's contributing more to the teams victory while carrying dead weight fvv so far. He's inefficient but this season he's clutch in 4th and isnt a liability on defense which correlates to victories. Can't say the same for the last 3 seasons
He needs to attack the rim more. I also think there is room for the offense of scheming to get him a couple bunnies to get him going.
I was always hoping the plan this season is: make 36% of your 3’s on 6 attempts. Drive to the basket a lot more. I need him at the line 6+ times a game to stabilize his scoring. Unfortunately the paint is a freaking mess. Worst I’ve seen since JB Bickerstaff. The opponent is setting up tents in there so the only thing available is semi-contested 3’s and uncontested midrange jumpers. The chances of him getting to the line more often are low in this offense. We’ll be fine as soon as we get the shooting/spacing fixed. For the time being you’ve decided to turn Jalen freaking Green into a jumpshooter. They figure it out soon.
I gave Jalen credit for matured approach. Then he goes flex taunting on a dunk on Cade that energized the OTHER team. After he was 3-12 FG bricking it. Sure its fun seeing 2 "rivals" going at each other. But Cade stats were double Jalen's, Jalen was way outplayed. Jalen has improved, it wasnt really too awful. But when Brooks the distrasting oddball weirdo gets a dunk after, but stayed in the flow of the game, that Rockets BARELY won, its a lesson about keeping the focus on basketball plays and not highlights. Tari's hustle play closing out on a shooter to miss the shot saved the game. THATS how to approach it
He's definitely better at a lot of things this year but it doesn't seem like he's fixed his biggest problem which is his inconsistency. The potential has always been MVP caliber but in order to get there he has to eliminate all these bad games, he just has way too many of them.
Jalen continues to play like Jalen. 40.7% threes last month had me excited. 30% threes this month makes me remember. That dunk was awesome. But then he played pretty poorly before and after that. His October looked great and his November looks bad. Some people will talk about that dunk for the next month and forget the games this month where he is shooting 32.1% and 30%.
We started to play better teams with tougher matchups for him. Jalen is primarily a front runner....a guy who feasts on poor competition and wilts in the bigger games. DD
His midrange game has slipped, he needs to hit those pull-up jumpers when the defense overplays the three. He also needs to implement more fakes in his game ala Shai. And yes, floaters are still valuable
