It is what it is. We had no answer for that one guard and their big. On the positive, they really did an excellent job making their free throws. On to the next.
Actually...it is a supposed "neutral" site as Birmingham will be "neutral" for next year's game. That's what it's about.
As much i know these games in November don't mean much in the grand scheme of things, this game has me feeling tight tho lol. I hate losing to these southeastern schools.
There was a lot of complaining when y'all ousted us in the Round of 32 in Birmingham when you were a #1 seed (rightfully so)...so, that went into the agreement. BTW...attendance was 6901...so, it definitely could have been played at FC which shows an 8489 capacity. Our Neville Arena seats 9121. Not sure why the 19,000 seat Toyota Center was needed. I can tell you that there will be more than 6901 at Legacy Arena next year.I would bet my house on it.
There was a lot of complaining when... I remember zero complaining. UH knows what's what. UH does not lose to Yale.
Trust me...UH was not happy about being a number 1 seed and playing Auburn in Birmingham (rightfully so). I didn't come to cause a problem...We inexplicably lost to Yale as you point out. We did not lose tonight. Congratulations on a great game. Have a great evening/morning. FWIW https://www.al.com/auburnbasketball...:text=“So Auburn gets to play, been a 9-seed.”
Do I care? No. But Houston does, in fact: Some people care a lot Or we don't until March, whatever works.
Cryer needs to step up late in close games to get his own shot or draw fouls. Who else can do it? Uzan seems more like a distributor. Sharpe a catch and shoot guy. Need a Shead, Sasser, Davis, Gray, etc. like in previous seasons.
We will have to play as a team because no "go-to" player is going to emerge from the crop on the floor. At least not someone we can trust. The system is going to get us a lot of wins as it always does, but our team and our system is flawed in similar ways to the past. And we are without an alpha dog. Although we may actually be a better free throw shooting team.
When you look back at the game this was a game we probably should of won. The silver lining is that it occurred in November rather than in March so we have an opportunity to make adjustments and learn from it. Same issue as last year. We have no back up point guard. We have other issues to deal with but I think this is the main one. Just like last year when Shead went to the bench, when Uzan was not in the lineup against Auburn we struggled on both ends of the floor. We have two games coming up, against UL and against Hofstra to fix this and get ready for our next big challenge against Alabama on the 26th in Vegas. Hope by then Arc and Javier will be ready for more playing time. In hindsight would have liked to see Mercy Miller in the game. Maybe he would have matched the energy of their freshman that went off on us. We have a great coach but I can't help but feel that CKS got outcoached in this one.
That Pettiford kid went full Wade Taylor on us. Salute to him but disappointing to see how easy it was for him. I have no idea why they insisted on trying to back down Broome with Jwan instead of trying to get by him.
