Its not really that complicated to understand as a moderate. The Overton window has shifted and some people are having a hard time adjusting to it. It is no longer a crime to say something like that. People are legitimately concerned they will get arrested and jailed for saying the wrong thing. That is no longer the case. So yes, this type of speech will become more common.
The leftist on the other hand believe if they can't control how people think and believe (20th century Christian ring a bell?), they are morally and ethically wrong and should be punished. They fear all white people who disagree with them are racist and fear the return of persecution .... that they never experienced in the first place. Sure, in some alternate reality of infinity, it has happened an infinity times. But for now, thats not the case. Stop being a little whiney b**** and stop telling me how I should live my life.

I'd be willing to bet BIG DOLLARS that this text came from a liberal. Smells like a Jussie Smollet farce, quite honestly. Just not credible. And by the way, this has nothing to do with Trump's election. Literally nothing.

Yup. It's like when liberals paint swastikas, blame Republicans, and then cry victim. Too ridiculous to be believable -- except to the American liberal.

But I am somewhat stunned that liberals STILL think playing the identity politics card is a winner. They just got waxed in the election yet keep returning to losing ideas...

Considering that my wife received it - and she is very active in Planned Parenthood… I am pretty sure it came from a Trump supporter. As for what is being said at my kid’s school - his teacher said it’s from social media.

Does every or even most Trump supporters think this is okay? No - I don’t believe it but there are some extremists that feel empowered right now.

Not the first time my wife has had threats or harassment though. She has had actual death threats from Muslim men a number of times - because she is a Middle Eastern woman that doesn’t agree with the Quran or the treatment of women.

It is just triggering for me at this point.

    Yes, they think it's ok.

MAGA people are adults, they are culpable and knowledgeable about what they affirm.

They might claim ignorance, and to be fair there's a good deal of psychometric brainwashing involved in creating MAGA magical thinking .

But that excuse wouldn't hold up in court, so it sure as **** isn't gonna hold up with me thinking they're morally accountable for their actions, even if Trump or Elon never is.

Weren't neo Nazis in like the 60s b****ing about liberals and their suppression of speech?

Seems to be a pattern. The fact you point to a previous era where it allegedly was the reverse where it was the Christian right that was pro censorship yet you can go to any point in post WW1 history of right wing figures b****ing the same manner as you about "free speech".

Notice how right wing free speech battles have nothing to do with combating power structures. The right to misgender doesn't speak truth to power which is the entire point of why intellectuals before us thought speech was important.

Will the right wing embrace people like Chelsea Manning or those Atlanta Cop city protestors being arrested for their speech?

No because in those instances you aren't fighting for your right to be a arsehole without judgement.

Thank you. This shouldn't be hard as a bipartisan statement.

If the GOP is building a new coalition that doesn't need disgusting white nationalists, maybe they can reject them fully. I'm def not holding my breath for that, given Trump's inner circle and people like Bannon and Miller and replacement theory weirdos.

The FBI and State AG’s are taking this seriously, as they should be. The creepy part is that its intended targets were obviously part of a data breach. Like how did this get disseminated out to black citizens only? College groups affiliated with AA organizations and HBCUs were targeted.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Russian hackers were somehow involved .

On a side note- not every incident like this is a manufactured fake hate crime. This should be investigated and taken seriously.

Why would Germans cheer while Jews were rounded up and murdered?

There are countless assholes and MAGA is their sanctuary. Are you just now figuring out that you are on the side of the baddies?

See what’s wrong here is a lack of empathy. You cannot put yourself in someone else’s shoes and disagree but understand where they are coming from.

Last night I had to go to a 1 year olds bday party and the ENTIRE time with people not knowing how I voted sat there and whined and complained about Democrats as if their world is about to end because of Gavin Newsom in California and attacking liberals who voted Kamala as evil people. I mean it is WIDE spread across the MAGA world constant streams of demonization too. There was not one person there who was trying to take them down a notch and be like “hey yeah I agree but we are all Americans and we need to do our part since we won to still be there for them etc etc.”

And yes before maybe you were right to say that in some liberals circles they probably demonized Trump voters too and also had a lack of empathy but honestly as a liberal myself I know the general consensus was typically that most Trump supporters are more victims of manipulation and bad information than being active participants. We obviously were wrong and actually the vast majority of Trump supporters are just as bad as Trump morally or at least just as hypocritical and power hungry willing to stomach whatever to see their political and societal enemies punished.

So please don’t come here wagging your judgy finger scolding “the left”. All of the Trump supporters I know are approaching this win as a SORE WINNER and are displaying a lack on any sort of empathy for folks who voted like I did. Your post here is evidence of that lack of any sort of empathy for having a pro Democratic liberal world view.

    So spare me please.

Yes and there is good probability of that happening.

But same can be said about 100’s no name twitter allegations that other side believed. Why should we apply rationality only when convenient?

If we are taking things at face value, let’s keep doing that for sake of consistency
