I think it’s really interesting that Cooper Hummel is still on the 40 man roster, and survived the recent purge. I like him as a potential 13th position player; a switch hitter with power who can play corner OF and 1B as well as be more than serviceable as an emergency catcher. He is out of options.
I don't mind him as the 13th man, but his power was non-existent in Sugar Land last year. However, if being the 13th man makes Dubon the 12th man and then there is a backup catcher, this team needs more everyday players and fewer platoon guys.
I do think it’s possible the sting of losing last month messed with Crane enough to slap some nuts on the table. He won’t go full Cohen, but considering how wealthy he is, his age, and how much more valuable the franchise is than when he bought it, it would not shock me if he fielded one of the top 3 payrolls in the league in 2025. You can’t take it with you and you’re already going to make hundreds of millions off the sale in a few years; may as well spend another $50M to ensure you enter the season with a fully stacked roster while the window is still open. Genuinely, if I were Crane, I would sell everything and give 95% of if to charity. But if I didn’t do that, I’d spend whatever I had to in order to not only stack the roster, but to have enough surplus assets to trade away if rebuild the farm.
Perfect, the Astros have a great clubhouse. Not that many teams could've orchestrated a trash can scenario team wide, get caught and still win another championship.
First of all, this guy is nothing but a troll. He has no connections, no track record, and will crawl back to his hole soon. However, IF the Astros signed Soto, this culture that he likes so much would completely change.
Not sure if addition of Soto or the subtraction of baseball Doc Rivers led to that 2019 ring for the Nats...
