Despite not having cap room, we still have the contracts of Dillon (IJS) + Tate + Landale + Uncle Jeff (nnnooooooo) to pull together to trade for a player.

So we have options (we know our rights!)

Thanks for the post, broham! Hope all is well!

Nah it means the opposite. They're here for the long haul.

Ah, great stuff Bima, that means a meaningful trade is not likely until next summer at the earliest.

    Thanks !

The Rockets could still make a meaningful trade this season without dealing Alpi or Jalen. They’ve got plenty of other trade pieces and expiring salaries to make a big trade. I’m just not holding my breath for one.

In order to make a big trade, a difference maker has to be available. Please explain who that will be this year?

We're the new Kings. Mediocre playoff team that will never go anywhere in the post-season since we haven't drafted any superstars.

The difference being the Kings’ players are in their prime, whereas our players are between 20 and 22 years old. Chill out.

SGA didn’t break out until he was 25. Amen is going to be a superstar and Jalen may become one. The immaturity of this board is ridiculous.

True, I guess, if they are willing to give up on FVV or Brooks or both.

Nah, they could deal any of the other Core7, plus some combination of Adams, Landale, Uncle Jeff, Tate or Holiday. That's enough salary to trade for almost anyone. But again, not holding my breath on that.

But another team would need to want someone and maybe they are betting on future, but right now, there are no players on our team that scream STAR......

I don't think it does. We have the non-guaranteed deals of FVV and Jock Landale and we also have expirings in Adams, Tate and Green. I also think Dillon Brooks would be appealing to teams after the way he's played here. So:

FVV - $42,846,615 with a team potion for next year.
Landale - $8,000,000 with a team option for the next two years.
    Adams - $12,600,000 expiring
    Uncle Jeff - $8,000,000 expiring
    Tate - $7,565,217 expiring

And then Brooks is a little over 22 million with a descending deal paying him a little more than 19 million in his final season.

We also have Jabari, Tari, Amen, Cam and Reed as young players we could include in deals if necessary. I'd hate to see any of them go, but any of them or some combination could be included if the right deal presented itself. And of course, lots of first round picks.

But in theory, we could make one trade where we send out FVV to match salaries with a max player and a second trade where we combine Landale, Adams, Uncle Jeff, Tate and Jabari (who makes just under 10 million) for a second max player.

There is nothing ridiculous about Thunder's Number 2 and Number 3 are about 22 of age......

And most of Thunder's Bench is about 24-26 of age as well. (Caruso is an anomaly 30 your oldest player is 30 and a role player- you have done the rebuild right)

Cason Wallace is going to be the Number 4.....Incredible 2 way player.

Without SGA that core and bench could still win 40 Wins .....that is the strength of their roster.

    That is called cost efficient.

I wish we could go back in time and not extend Jalen. Hell, go back further in time and trade Jalen.

there will likely be an opportunity to move jalen at the deadline
at least 2-3 teams will be looking to cut salary
getting jalen back may be enough incentive for them to give up a future first and a swap
or jalen going to a 3rd team with cap space in exchange for another team sending us salary to get out of the tax or at least lower their tax bill

    miami
    golden state
    milwaukee
phoenix depending on where they are at the deadline

Pay attention. Jalen cannot be reasonably traded before July of next year. (See Bima’s article). It is almost impossible and the team’s that it is possible to trade him to have nothing of real value to offer.

    no its not almost impossible
    improbable but not almost impossible
jalen contract actually works very nicely for teams trying to get off the tax or lower on the tax scale
im not predicting a trade at the deadline
    im saying its not impossible
i can throw out a lot of combinations that would possibly make sense depending on what other teams do at the deadline

    think about it
would a team rather trade a first round pick to get out of the luxury tax by just dumping salary on a team like the pistons
or would they rather trade a first round pick for jalen green and some of jock dillon jeff tate aaron to get out of the luxury tax while dumping more salary

    think about this
would it make more sense for us to go into summer free agency next season with max cap space minus jalen or not max space and jalen's deal

what if other teams like chicago and brooklyn take on salary and there is effectively zero other teams with max cap space next summer after they make deals at the deadline

what if we can create max cap space and we are competing with teams like chicago and brooklyn to sign kuminga to offer sheet

what if we get space plus a 31 first for jalen and we can sign naz reid...myles turner

lots of possibilities both after the season and at the deadline...and the deadline is very possible depending on what other teams do

Please read the article again. The poison pill aspects of Jalen’s contract pretty much require any trade to be a multiple team trade with a sub-set of teams that meet some very specific salary guidelines, which are highly unlikely. Pretty much the only teams you could trade with one on one are teams with 30m or so in cap space of which there are none. The hoops that teams and the Rockets would have to go through make both Jalen and Sengun trades almost impossible to pull off before July of next year. By extending Jalen, the Rockets basically took him off the board this full season as far as trades are concerned. Like it or not, the Rockets took a gamble that Jalen would turn the corner and that they would save a bit of money for a year. He may or may not perform and he will be available for trade in July of next year if they so desire.

The crass thinking continues, this is gambling at the Golden Nugget.

That itself is just sheer fantasy......I mean okay. Tilman has money to burn.

That money has go to Tari or Amen.
