Right? Imagine telling a Republican in December 2012 that in four years they'd be backing 12 years of Donald Trump.
Vance, Musk and Theil are monarchists. Trump is their vessel. Trump was serious when he said "in four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote." https://www.reuters.com/world/us/tr...ont-have-vote-after-this-election-2024-07-27/
Oh and the religious zealots are very much part of the plan. Vance converted to Catholicism because that's somehow the cool thing to do in the weird ass neoreactionary alt-right movement.
I am not sure we will have time for WWIII - with Trump claiming he will deport 20 million illegal immigrants in the USA at a projected cost of one trillion dollars (there aren't even 20 million illegals), that he will build a wall Mexico will pay for, that he will build an iron dome over the USA, that he will put 60% tariffs on all Chinese goods and a 20% tariff on all other foreign goods - that he will end Obama Care - increase Military Spending - end the war in Ukraine (I assume by just letting Russia have it), end war in the Middle East - stop biological males from competing in female sports ---- and require every federal employee to take a "Patriot Exam"... oh and at one time he said that he would get drug dealers the death penalty. So I don't know that we can wedge WWIII in there - but we can try.
Im confused. A monarchist is a form of government where leadership is passed down through family or something like that. I think you mean dictator. Let me once again say this - The president doesn't have unchecked power. He can't declare himself dictator nor can Congress appoint him dictator. Even if he was flat out saying he intends on being dictator, he can't. end of story. But I would recommend finding the video/speech or whatever and listen to it in full context instead of taking a couple sentences and drawing conclusions. I am not going to do your homework nor am I going to further entertain click bait low context sentences.
Looking at the list, Dems need an Andy Yang who can and wants to lead at the expense of looking awesome all the time. His failure for the NY Mayor spot highlighted some key leadership flaws. That and the DLC has to like the person. It's the Chomsky line where the Party would rather retain control and fail this election (Biden/Harris) than lose control to a Sanders/Yang and win the election.
Appreciate all of your good insights on the Rockets. All due respect, this is just your opinion. You’re clearly a Democrat so best of luck. I think JD Vance will be a force to reckon with personally. He’s incredibly articulate, can debate with the best of them, and has been the most impressive VP candidate I’ve seen since Reagan picked Bush.
Long-time lurker, I don’t post much, you are correct. I read most of the sports forums for Rockets, Astros, and Texans. I’m a 15 year season ticket holder for the Astros.
Regardless of how well JD can debate, or whatnot the dynamics of the country will probably dictate who has an edge or not as a party. Everyone except for MAGA diehards... even people who voted for Trump... know he's going to be a disaster. We've seen this show before 1000 times. If JD was going to be the "active" president in 2026 through 28 when Trump does nothing but tweets from Mar A Lago for the remainder of his days, then I would say sure.... maybe he will be a formidable candidate if he actually keeps Trump at bay, and does normal Reagan Republican type of things in governing the country. But if Trump is active AT ALL in the last 3 years of his administration, it's just a fact that it's likely to be a disaster and with Trump's baggage hanging around his neck (no Mike Pence pun intended) it's highly likely that JD Vance's political career is garbage after what Trump is going to put him through.
Yes you can call it a dictator, but they prefer to call it a monarch. Probably a reference to Plato. I haven't dug into much of this weirdos writing yet. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/07/18/jd-vance-world-view-sources-00168984 "The solution, Yarvin argues, is for the American oligarchy to give way to a monarchical leader styled after a start-up CEO — a “national CEO,” [or] what’s called a dictator,” as Yarvin has put it — who can de-bug the American political order like a computer programmer de-bugging some bad code. Vance has said he considers Yarvin a friend and has cited his writings in connection with his plan to fire a significant number of civil servants during a potential second Trump administration. “There’s this guy Curtis Yarvin, who has written about some of these things,” Vance said on a conservative podcast in 2021, adding: “I think Trump is going to run again in 2024 [and] I think that what Trump should do, if I was giving him one piece of advice: Fire every single midlevel bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state, replace them with our people.” Vance is very involved in project 2025. He wrote the forward to Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts book, which originally announced with the subtitle “Burning Down Washington to Save America”. Whether you want to believe it, and whether they pull it off, the goal is a dictator.
He is articulate and can debate, but he was not an impressive VP candidate, IMO. He sucks at being a human being. I don't even mean that as a slight against those opinions that are sometimes gross or his sellout for Trump which is also gross. It is his inability to function normally. It is a massive liability. I'd agree that isn't really that important, but it is a deficiency I think he struggles to overcome. Ron DeSantis similarly struggles. I will say it again. If Republicans actually believe what they say, they would want Brian Kemp.
I hope he doesn't run, but if Don Jr runs he will be the nominee. But even though I like him alot, he would struggle in a general election. Dems best bet would be Fetterman, he's the only one with a shred of authenticity.
Dayum....so what's the name of the centi-million dark money PAC where I can donate to that funds Fetterman's Ozempyc prescription?
