I didn’t cancel my judo classes and taught a kids class last night. If anything teaching those kids, a diverse mix that included kids of African and Asian immigrants who’s families came here as refugees, reminded me of why it’s important to keep on working for the values I believe in.
I take no pride in Trump winning, as I would have taken no pride in Harris winning. One thing I have noticed during this election cycle is social media is the new way many form their opinions. That is pretty frighting considering the amount of nonsense and unverified reporting. I do not pretend to know what the next 4 years will look like, so I will pit on my slacks and tie like every other day and go to work. I will say one thing, the divide between left and right is becoming wider than the Grand Canyon. It's going to be an interesting Thanksgiving dinner this year.
I dunno. I think people underestimate how exhausted liberal people are right now and how much they pity MAGA family members instead of seeing them still as partners who can be convinced of anything. If liberal people are having thanksgiving with MAGA family members it’ll only be because they think it’s not even going to come up. Otherwise I think most on the left are just over it with these people and you’ll see those toxic chest thumpers shunned even more into their bubble. Long story short I think it’ll be fine. We are almost a decade into this facist movement, and I think by now we’ve figured out how to deal with it by not dealing with it. Democrats are going to sit back and let Trump voters reap what they sewed. You are going to get the government you want and we know you will not benefit one bit.
I’m not going to sugar coat things and and nationally things are going to be bad. Nothing that has happened in the last 36 hours has changed what I thought before. Finger pointing, blame game, what if’s are going to happen but I can’t look back or undo what has happened. What I can do though is continue to work and advocate. I was brought up with the warrior belief that when things are difficult and even when many are against you you still continue. Or maybe I’ve just been hit in the head too many times and thrown too hard that I don’t know when to give up. What I do know is just sitting on my @ss or just despairing about things on social media isn’t going to change things.
Nationally, things are GREAT. You should ask yourself WHY you lost. It's because FAR leftists are morally rotten. Not because of tactics on how you should have presented yourselves.
Nationally things are great now. The economy is humming, infrastructure is being built and I paid less than $3 / gallon last night for gas. Let’s see where things are after 20% tariffs on all imports and a mass deportation program. Fear and grievance are powerful tools especially when amplified by the tools of social media. I don’t regret or will change any of the positions I’ve taken and even if most people live in fear of immigrants, trans people or black mermaids doesn’t mean I will.
Morality lessons from a person who posts media on the site containing white supremacist rhetoric, and had has spread the most ludicrous campaign propaganda is kind of laughable.
