Blaming Biden (the person) is being a sore loser. Democrats got their ass kicked because they underestimated the nation’s frustration with the economy. People are worried about how to pay the bills not that Trump is a convicted felon who led an insurrection. They focused on the wrong thing and thought they could ride on women’s rights and anti-Trump anger. Didn’t work. I still believe the Democrats need to stop being the party for everyone when losing means they’re the party for none. Yes calling people names is a great way to really prove how morally superior you guys are. The last 4 years were pretty good for me actually. Had the highest earning years in 22 and 23. This year down a little but still very blessed. I don’t have to make excuses for Biden. Man I just don't want people who call humans who pick avocados under minimum wage a invasion force that is poisoning the blood of our country in positions of power in this country. I hope the conservatives on this board notice that a lot of us liberals on the board today have pretty measured, reasonable tones. We're not name calling, we're not alleging fraud, we're not doing anything other than trying to take stock of where things stand as a country.
I agree. Their wild hyperbole probably didn't help them either. None of the people who were on the fence were thinking, "Do I want to vote for the fascist or keep democracy?" Or they could be the party for everyone by abandoning identity politics in all of its forms. Get rid of DEI, affirmative action, etc. and just focus on treating everyone as an American. Voters are not looking to be scolded into voting for you.
"Some" liberals have been like that. Most of the ones who were spewing the most hate/name-calling the last few months have vanished since yesterday evening when it was becoming officially clear. One aspect that the Weimar Republic liberals hoped for in conceding to the rise of the Nazi party was a belief that these fascists who love to play politics, love the brashness, the street violence, the hateful rhetoric of migrants, Jews etc would hate actual governance and that Nazis suddenly having responsibilities to run the country will slow them down and bore then into flaming out the Nazi movement. The problem with their hope was not understanding how ideological driven the leaders of the Nazi party were. Hitler was an ideological nut. Trump isn't and that is probably the one hope sane people who fear fascism have with Trump. Does he have the will and motivation to see through his rhetoric like deporting 20 million humans? That's the part you Trump supporters don't recall from the first term and are blind to now because of a recent victory that has you jubilated. Now you guys will have to defend from a place of governance. Now any issues that happen around the globe and in this country will be blamed on Trump rather than Biden. Why can't we call people who support a person who made up claims of a ethnic group stealing and eating pets in America and defending the claim by saying "I saw it on TV!" as bigots? It does paint a pretty stark contrast looking at a lot of the respected non-Trump people on this BBS posting very measured and thoughtfully while there's maybe two Trump voters here who aren't A) doing nothing but sh1tposting and B) guilty of having indulged in conspiracy mongering and sore loser victimhood over the last 4 years. I have no idea what else the rest of us can do to acquit ourselves. The double standard by which we're judged is just insane and neverending. I will proudly go to my grave never having voted for Trump, but I'll be even prouder of the way I handled myself in the wake of his victories. Some of us still want the country to succeed and have enough personal pride to not succumb to our worst impulses when times get tough. Some folks could learn a thing or two about it.
