Do you believe Kendrick Green and Patterson can be short term answers at LG? If so WR/CB goes to the top of the wish list. Green/Patterson can handle the LG spot, but I definitely trade for a guy like Bitonio. Or even a solid vet like Andres Peat.
After hearing a spitting-mad Dre on the radio broadcast noting THoward and Shaq Mason weren't even looking to throw a block on a scramble for Stroud, and Dirty Red Stoerner after the game noting the missing aggression, The league has figured out that pressure up the middle is how to throw Stroud off, and protection up the middle is swiss cheese. I believe that the franchise has a foundational weakness in paying an adjustment-killing amount for large men who seem to demonstrate living their lives in football by default; in Stoerner's words, they're softer than hot butter. They cannot afford to send the right message by cutting/sitting Tunsil and/or Howard now unless they decide to punt on the season. Late-career Patriots Bradyball is Stroud's only chance to stay out of concussion protocol or off the I.R.- two-step drop across the middle or throw it away when not in the run game. (hey, Pats still went 12-4 that year but went out 1st round to the Titans) This year, hang your hopes on a miracle but let's stay real and hope #7 stays upright.
As much as I want a real corner that can play man, offensive line is the priority. They need a clear upgrade at guard and Kendrick Green is too close to bad. I don't know about Patterson. I'm not thrilled with anyone on the OL. Even if half of their game is good, the other half, which is weak, makes the point moot. But I don't see anything happening by the trade deadline. The Texans will get robbed by any trade proposal right now. GMs will be looking to take advantage of the Texans who need to save Stroud half way through the season.
Nicky and Coach have to keep it up with duct tape and chewing gum until the inevitable humiliating playoff exit, then focus on all those big men in the league not in their current team's plans for next year. I'm fairly certain that they, and the scouting staff, know right now what kind of player they want, if not who yet. And just because we HATE not knowing exactly what comes next, taking this moment for gentle defense of those with the team we think should: There are two big secrets in life- the first is not to tell everything you know.
There probably wont be any stud level OG's available. There should be a solid vet OG like Andres Peat available for cheap. We can hope that a guy like Bitonio will be available but that's very unlikely (I would give up a 3rd for Bitonio) However, it's been rumored that Newsome will be available and I would look at picking him up if possible.
When we finally rid ourselves of the Slowik offense, we need a Ben Johnson style installed. He’ll certainly not be available and likely a head coach soon, but watching his offense makes me jealous. Stroud is a perfect fit for the style they use Goff within. Mixon is versatile enough to play either the Gibbs or Montgomery role, but also might be a good fit to get Pierce more touches. We know we have a solid alpha in Nico and the final piece is a speedster in their intention to use Jameson (Tank).
We better shape things up against Detroit next week. That bullshit against the Jets ain't gonna fly against a team that throws overhand. @desihooper
Why the hell hasn't Chris Strausser been fired yet? It's unanimously agreed upon that he's incompetent. Kick him to the curb and bring in some offense line gurus. Bring in several and trade for some O-linemen. Also hire Kubiak to help out Slowik. Demeco probably has him on speed dial anyway and he ran a familiar and successful Shanahan system that won the Super Bowl. Make the most out of this mini-bye. I doubt even one of these things happen because this team isn't serious.
So any positives to expect the next few weeks? West Coast Offense 2 steps and throw? Run, run, run, run, play-action? Max protect every play, and wait for Nico to beat triple coverage?
Man i'm not looking forward to playing the lions on national tv next sunday.....could get ugly but at least their pass rush isn't amazing
No. This season is ****** between poor performance, injuries and lack of toughness. Could easily be undefeated but instead are likely going to be over .500 but not winning a playoff game.
I have made a lot of money betting on NFL games…. But I am very particular about the games I bet.. some weeks I make no bets.
