It all comes down to Sengun. He's the main reason we're losing, while everything else is mostly fine. Everyone else is shooting well and executing on offense, except for him. We’re nearly the top defensive team even with a midget like FVV logging over 40 minutes because of how well he plays defense. Have I mentioned defense enough yet?
Ignore me like how Ime wasn't aware of Sengun leaving the bench. That's great coaching and I want to feel like I'm non-existent because I deserved.
Eventually jme is gonna have to go or we trade sengun. No fking way we sign sengun to an extension to bench him down the stretch, repeatedly. His love for fvv really reminds me of silas love for kpj. Fvv should not be playing heavy mins while we have other pgs on the team.
The simple reality is he isn’t aligned with the organization’s goals. We just have Sengun $185mm as the cornerstone of the team. MDA had the Rockets best team in decades because he was aligned with the front office and crafted a gameplan to maximize the roster. Ime has done none of that and is now actively damaging our best prospect’s development.
I'm okay with Ime benching Sengun, but he should apply the same treatment across the board. The bench was the reason we came back, and the solely reason we lost this game because Ime put back the starters. Ime is still a good coach on my book, so bringing back Silas those nonsense has to be stop. Ime definitely he got outcoached for at least a couple of games this season, and he needs to be better.
So far this season he’s at a C at best. I think the time for tough coaches who preach D and don’t have much to offer on offense are over. After this we need a strategic X and O’s guy with a Ime as an assistant.
Me too. I’d ignore his other account, but I’d lose a lot of funny arguments with actual guys that know basketball.
I don’t like the early season trends with the team, but it is all just small sample size at this point. Other than Tari Eason, the whole team has regressed on offense.
Yeah we're not good shooters in general and need shooters but teams that are not good at shooting don't have to lose. Cleveland takes fewer 3's than us, not stopping them from winning. We have to take fewer 3's, these guys are not making any effort to carve out a better shot than whatever the defense gives them. I get it a team with average skills should be able to make an open jumper but we also have to be realistic about what we have. We can get other good shots. I'd love to acquire a sweet-shooting 4 in exchange for Brooks. Feel like that can help a lot.
ball swings in rotation. If one guy can’t shoot, they’ll leave him alone and that clogs up stuff for everyone else. Think Westbrook for us in the playoffs that year. But if no one can shoot you have a very slim chance of having any real success collectively on offense. Maybe the defense can overcome that. But at some point you can’t win in the NBA with this kind of poor shooting. Those were open shots being missed in the first half last night. And we’ve seen that a ton. Someone has to make defenses pay for that.
It is 100% Ime, if the Sacremento Kings can build a winner with Chris Webber and Vlad Divacs together on the floor, the Rockets can too with Bari and Sengun.... You have to design an offense that gets people moving, like the Kings of old or the Warriors of today - you can't just rely on 1v1 interactions, this is easy to defend - Ime has frankly done a great job motivating and a crap job designing an offense. DD
Ime had a veteran roster but successfully made himself kicked out from his organization because he couldn't control his thirst. Ime Udoka is someone we can rely on. That's for sure.
