You forgot to mention about preseason plus and minus stats, which singlehandedly refutes all your valid points.
Here, here! I've actually been following rocketschamp since 2005 so my fandom far surpasses yours. One bedroom in my house contains printouts of tons of his posts. I'm also building a statue of what I think he looks like by utilizing used cotton swabs (the ear wax helps them stick to one another). It's looking impressive. rocketschamp really is a champ. My personal champ. He's definitely never been on my ignore list.
I'm with you here! I already bought really low on Jalen stock - there was just a handful of us buying on Jalen last year and I'm happy to say "told you so" to everyone who doubted my posts last year about how the signs of his growth were all there happening in real time(especially after Ime started sending him to the bench while closing games out) even if they didn't show up in the efficiency stats. I got so much Jalen stock for cheap, I have PLENTY left over to buy more Alpi stock. My take on Alpi is he has definitely looked out of sorts this year - the touch seems off. It seems like he is trying to be more aggressive in the paint which I think is good but his touch through contact is something he still has to work on so the results are a lot more misses than usual - but it's a worthy cause! He has better touch when he is trying to snake away from defenders with these weird shots - but he doesn't pick up fouls when he does that. I imagine part of him taking that "next level" as a scorer is being able to finish through defenders and getting those foul calls(which he isn't necessarily getting at the moment despite the contact). I think long term - that is the right approach even if the results aren't great right now. This is similar to Jalen's development - you gotta support them as long as the process is right even if the results aren't yet there. I do think Alpi is forcing it a bit much and has missed a few assists this year from being too much in his head but I think we gotta give him space to figure it out. I also thought he looked a little slow to me for the first few weeks but he seemed to be moving noticeably better in last night game so maybe he is starting to play himself into better game shape. That is not to say he has been out of shape necessarily - but it seems like he noticeably improved on strength but maybe didn't quite have his legs back which isn't surprising given he ended last season with a lower body issue. To your point - he is still an adding value to the team as a rebounder and we even got a little old school Sengun razzle dazzle last night with a behind the back dish to Eason. I say let's see how he progresses over the next month here.
I appreciate you sharing that. I’m planning to create a statue of him once Sengun reads his posts and makes the choice to leave on his own. The day Sengun gets traded because of him will truly be a once in a lifetime joy. I can’t wait for it.
Can't remember the last time a top 5 player like Lebron had a 25pt/9reb/7ast/5stl/5blk stat line and was +43 in a game. Oh, I'm sorry, you said Bronny....well that Wemby comparison hasn't aged well in the hours since you made it.
The people behind obvious troll accounts actually believe they're funny, while the rest of us just roll our eyes and wish a moderator would step in and ban them.
I've been comparing him to Pau for a while now. Similarly Pau was a guy who could be a scorer in his prime but his best gift was as a connective passer and high bball IQ guy which is EXACTLY why he got rings playing with Kobe. There is no value in a framework of #1 guys or a #2 guys - only value in a team of people who's strengths complement each other and where the coach maximizes the best each player has to offer and for Alpi that's his bball IQ and passing first and then his scoring just like it was for Pau.
For the nearsighted, the idiots, the pessimists and the chickens little among us: Sengun is playing hurt. Ime has a win-now mentality and resting Sengun till he's 100% is not his priority.
Seems as though maybe a back injury. He definitely looks stiff out there lately. That being said, yesterday he helped get their bigs in foul trouble and still had 17 and 12, with 4 assists. We expect more out of him, but I'll take that from a player less than 100%.
What is his injury? I thought he looked slow, but I assumed he was still playing his way into game shape with his legs since he hasn't played game speed since February.
full time summer fun with 3 coaches is showing its results. he will bounce back. he'll warm up to the game in a month or so, since mediterranean parties all night long do not correlate well to shooting memory or muscles.
Ahhh - I remember that. Didn't think he was still feeling the effects of it but thanks for the reminder.
he looks like ass because we aren't playing to his strengths. last year was the FVV/Al-P pick and roll show. Now we are playing as Green as the focal point in the offense. Something has to give...
I don't feel that's the case. He has averaged 16-18 FGAs when he hasn't gotten in foul trouble. One quote from MT's Ime interview, I didn't bother to put in because I forgot the word he used, "Teams are jumping the PnR action leaving more opportunities for FVV"
