According to NBA com before this game we're 9th in the league in offensive rating. Other teams in the league are doing worse in comparison, that's a good start for this young team. https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/advanced?dir=A&sort=OFF_RATING
Yeah, if Fred is not hitting his shots, Amen is the better option. They were playing Jalen as the initiator in crunch time anyway.
Play the triangle offense, all of a sudden Sengun makes a perfect #2 for Jalen. Play the princeton offense and the same applies. It's not a Sengun issue, it's a "Udoka has no real offensive chops" issue.
I'm not worried about Al-P the player, he's clearly improved on his game (being a threat from 3 when left open is a huge improvement), I think he's just having a dry spell of poor shooting, he's not going to keep shooting sub 40% from 2 all year. You'd think the offense should just spam Jalen-Sengun P&Rs all day instead of endless DHOs, especially considering Sengun's prowess as passing out of the roll.
I'd actually be very interested in seeing how they could create with off-ball 2 man actions. Sengun sets the screen for Jalen to get open on the perimeter, and if the defender switches and Jalen doesn't cook him he passes it into the post to Alpi who now has a 2 guard guarding him instead of always posting up against actual centers. It's like coaches forgot how to utilise the post as much as they forgot how to defend it. It's so easy to create a mismatch that either makes for easy buckets for Alpi, or double teams that let him leverage his passing to create for others...
Remember when they had an offense geared around generating mismatches for their best players? Seemed pretty basic back then but apparently it was evil sorcery that can't be replicated.
It's crazy how few teams actually do it any more. It's so easy to make the game easier for players and so many coaches just let their guys try and beat people one on one or in the pick and roll regardless of whether the matchup is a bad one or not. A prime Dwight Howard (Orlando) would genuinely eat most of those guards alive in the paint because they'd never try and move him out of it to open the lane lol. He'd probably average 10 blocks a game.
Keeping getting benched during clutch time... Ime is asking for a trade definitely. Giannis, here we go!!
Why bother quoting me if you're not going to answer the question? Post from your main account, this is just weird now.
Adams' injuries are compounding the problem with Sengun's struggles. Jock Landale may be needed soon, for short stretches.
Jock might be better than Sengun, I would say we may think of him as a starter as well. I have decided that Sengun won't get better after the worst 5 games he played in the NBA.
Rough going for Alperen so far. Rough going for Alperen is 15-12-4. Think about that. It's coming. Sell me all your stock.
