They certainly looked a lot better tonight when he wasn't playing. We were +18 in only 9 minutes with him on the bench.
We aren't some title or bust team right now, why wouldn't we give Reed 15 MPG to help develop him and take our lumps while doing so?
FVV is looking more beefy these days...I think if he trims down a few pounds, he'll move quicker to get around his defender because right now he's been ineffective getting to the paint. Also, conditioning is important to your shooting - I just think he's not in the best shape compared to his prime years in Toronto.
Minutes Per Game, an examination and statistical analysis brought to you by the Dankstronaut Institute of Basketball Information Systems Institute: Fred VanVleet: 37mpg Amen Thompson: 21.3mpg Tari Eason: 17.3mpg
Fred was too busy in the offseason teaching the young guys how to play the game he forgot to get himself into shape.
yes…his shot selection and shot making ability are both atrocious he’s also boring AF to watch just talking from a fan perspective
They eventually will. You almost have to so you can better inform the decisions you will make after this season. What I think may end up happening is FVV will decline the option and sign a reasonable 3 year contract. If he does not want to do that you sign or trade for someone comparable that is a vet that can play decent minutes next season as Sheppard adjusts to the NBA.
Again folks, it's all good. Udoka will make changes when they are obvious. FVV's minutes will go down once he sees the Rockets can thrive without him on the court. However, when it comes to closing time in particular, FVV is the #1 most likely player to be on the floor (after Jalen).
FIFY. It's any night. He's not that dude. 30-34 mins tops with the rest of those minutes going to Amen and Tari.
FVV is Playing too many minutes. The Rockets said they were going to cut that back, but Udoka seems to have other ideas. It makes no sense that Reed is already being scaled back, but there must be a reason for it. He needs to step up his game and get those minutes back.
I'm not worried about him as a player, I am worried about his minutes. Udoka is too shortsighted in his player usage. Sheppard or even Holiday need to be out there 15 MPG to keep his minutes reasonable.
Those minutes definitely need to go to Reed, we already know what Holiday can do and he is just guard insurance for injury / rest etc,, lets see what the high lottery pick can do and those minutes are crucial for any rookie.....especially on a team gunning for PO slot Noble Udoka will figure it out
Last season we had one excellent guard and one terrible guard. This season we have one excellent guard and one terrible guard. Would be nice to have both excellent versions
Too inconsistent, too predictable, too short and cannot shoot wide open threes. Interesting combo we got here.
I understand not playing Reed like 20 MPG, but would be nice to see him get like 10-12 MPG. It must be stressful for him going out there knowing he's probably only going to play a few minutes and that's it. He hasn't been amazing to start the year, but he's played 43 total minutes which isn't not really enough to determine his impact out there. Would be nice to see Ime work him into the rotation just a bit more.
I think that was easily predictable, as long as he can still run the Offense, his statistical decline could be absorbed.
