"They used to love them some Trump" -- like 20 years ago? He was always kind of considered a sleazeball by the general public, but I think people started to turn on him around 2010 when he promoted Birther conspiracy theories, ramped up the racist rhetoric against immigrants, and took strong opposing positions on other issues that matter to Democrats like health care and climate change. And as his attacks became more unhinged and the lies started flowing more freely without a filter, he started to be seen as a more and more serious threat. Finally, his indefensible actions (according to Democrats and a large segment of Republicans) after the 2020 election convinced the majority of Americans that he's unfit to serve as President. "I've never heard him talk bad about the american people" -- who do you consider the "american people"? Didn't he refer to the country as the world's garbage can not too long ago? Trump will talk bad about anyone who opposes him or his agenda. Also, wanting to disenfranchise millions of Americans by throwing out their votes in 2020 is maybe not "talking bad" about them, but it certainly isn't respecting them or their rights.
A guy who is voting for a brain-dead 79 year old who spends his entire day watching TV, calling in to TV and then regurgitating whatever horrific, putrid bile hears on TV (this was his pattern even before he became senile)
I agree, I thought he was a sleezeball too. Still cringe at things he says, but I reflect on his presidency and reports outside of mainstream to determine his "fitness" to lead. I consider american people to be just that, American...born or documented. I just don't believe there has been enough transparency on his election fraud claims, especially as reports are coming out about discrepancies in PA, GA, MI, etc. I don't know if we'll ever know exactly what happened, but at the very least it was a questionable event. Honestly my main reason for supporting is my belief that he is less likely to be purchased than most, and his history of comments about government corruption. Why would he bother with all of this? Is it a power trip, or a belief system? I'm not certain, he does relish the spotlight so it clouds things up a bit...but he has also put himself and others in the "bullseye" by making claims that the system is flawed, and naming them The fact that he has surrounded himself with people I find to be logical and grounded for the most part, has added to my personal belief that it's more about minimizing corruption. The icing on the cake is the unity of the lefts dialogue and the support of the msm. If I could find some variance among them it would seem a lot more legit...but that's just me
I really do appreciate you sharing your opinion in a civil manner with someone who is clearly disagreeing with you. Nice to see on here. I understand that many Trump supporters think our political system and institutions are broken and corrupted, and they like Trump because he calls out the "phonies" in power. There is some truth to this, and I welcome anyone who would be a true reformer. But when someone comes along saying he's going to fix things, you have to look at the character and actions of that person. History is littered with conmen claiming they're going to fix things when they are only interested in enriching and empowering themselves. I don't see Trump and friends (despite you considering them to be very logical and grounded) as any different, honestly. RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, and Elon Musk, all with axes to grind with the Democratic Party establishment, come across to me as people looking to obtain influence and power in the new Republican Party because it serves their personal interests. I guess what I'm saying is I think Trump is just about the most corrupt person who has ever run for President, and he has said the biggest mistake of his first administration was hiring people who opposed some of the corrupt stuff he was trying to do. So if your reason for voting for Trump is to fix corruption, I don't get it. And I don't know if there's anything that would convince you that Trump is extremely corrupt if you think all sources of information about the type of person Trump is and how he ran his Presidency can't be trusted. Which brings me to another issue I have with Trump and his effect on the country -- the total breakdown of trust in institutions to where a large chunk of the country feel they can't believe anything or anyone unless Trump gives his seal of approval on it. That's a very dangerous place to be, and it would seem we're already there.
Likewise I appreciate your approach I understand your stance and realize there is a level of "snake oil" in most political advancement, and he would certainly qualify as that to a lot of people. His exaggerate speak, and his boisterous claims of success on levels never seen...and failures of the other side causes everyone, myself included to pause. I also agree that there was self survival/advancement aspects to RFK, Tulsi, and Elon, my hope and standing is that they bring differing views, and would bring a balance. I could be totally off, but that is where I am currently. As for the trust aspect, if they didn't constantly validate my doubts of their integrity it might be different. I want to hear balanced reporting, criticism and questioning from news sources, and I want my government to focus on America's troubles first, not the worlds. Mike Pence was asked about the homeless when pushing more funds for Ukraine, and he responded "That's not my problem"...said the quiet part out loud. Again, this is just my personal view of things currently and could turn out to be mistaken on certain aspects, but I respect others with different views when articulated as a conversation, and not a school yard tantrum. Thanks for being the former. Meant to add this question, has your view of Trump allowed you to give any credence to any of his claims, or are they considered false immediately?
I give very low credence to claims made by Trump. That doesn't mean everything he says is false or that he doesn't make a reasonable point now and then. I don't just reflexively disagree with everything he says (which would be irrational). But him saying something is so doesn't give me any more confidence in it. The people in his orbit don't appear to hold him accountable for his lies, so what motivation does he have to stick to the truth if a lie would serve him better?
The judge stated he was liable for rape. Also what exactly is the "system"? Are they in the room with us now or just in the basement of the pedophile pizzeria which doesn't have a basement? Are you an enemy of the people?
Liable based on the judges opinion, civil cases don't require near the evidence of a criminal trial. If that's enough for you, ok, it is what it is...The system is the lifetime politicians that are funded by lobbyist. As for the other stuff, not sure, it's not like Diddy or Epstein where it's been/being processed and now they are keeping it under wraps. But the scale of those two has been surprising, so I don't rule anything out these days. Apparently anyone not on the left is a nazi so I don't know, maybe by their definition I am, at minimum a "deplorable" or "human garbage".
If Harris and Walz lose this election, I will blame, not Biden, but... Spoiler DaDa and this thread specifically.
You can only blame white racist men, many of whom are misogynistic as well. You just know if it were Walz/Harris it would be a landslide....so many people won't vote for her because she is black, and a woman. DD
