I think looking at +/- in isolation and net rating in isolation is misleading. Counting stats count. One guy balled out, 25 pts, 18 rebs, 5 asts, 4 stls, 1 block, 2-3 threes. The rest, not so much.
I don't blame either Sengun or Green tbh, I blame Ime for having no bag at all on offense. Was Green the only guy chucking, or once they packed the paint to limit Alpi was the only "action" we had left a single screen then a chuck from our guards? Green had a higher TS% than Alpi, nobody was efficient, they're scoring despite Ime, not because of him and that's a MASSIVE problem. Now, Brooks, Bari and FVV need to hang their heads in shame for contributing all of nothing on the defensive end. However +/- is useless, I just like flipping astrorules' idiotic "i live and die by the metrics" approach back on him because it's so easy, like when people use TS% as an indicator without realising that Reggie Miller aint **** as a player compared to Michael Jordan despite being 16th all-time vs 131st - metrics aint **** compared to actual counting stats/real performance. You don't win for a higher TS%, you win for higher points.
Were you around this summer when one of the yay points crowd was screaming how brad beal was better than dream because he scored more ppg? I think he did convince me that analytics and metrics are dumb and math is stupid. I’m on your side now. Plus/minus isn’t even a metric, and obviously for a single game is beyond irrelevant. Was just responding to a silly comment
Our only win came when Jalen was closer numero uno and sengun had a numero dos double double stat line
Stars are born in the regular season. He needs to be a 1A or 1B on a team that wins a playoff series to be a superstar. He needs to be at this level for an entire regular season to be considered a star. It's four games.
People throw the term superstar around like it’s nothing. Typically in the nba there are around 3-5. Currently jokic and luka are unquestionable (jokic far and away number 1), and embiid if healthy (rare). Giannis and shai would be tier 2 and on the lower end of superstars. The list ends there
Nah. NBA is way too talented today. I'd say there are about 10 dudes in the league who interchange between top 5 season to season.
Nah, like it or not, Steph and Bron are still 100% superstars. Maybe not judging by your weird metrics benchmarks, but they are fully superstars.
Na, they’re not. Lebron by himself or steph by himself aren’t taking you anywhere, and are not close to mvp level. I’m only talking about on the court, they’re famous and all that but not what I’m talking about
Are you saying you need a top 5 guy to “take you anywhere?” Because the Celtics would like a word. Hell, most of the top end teams in the NBA don’t have what you would describe as a “superstar.” There just isn’t such a divide anymore. Parity is far greater, and championships going forward will be dictated more by cohesion than absolute top-end talent IMO.
I mean the Celtics top 2 guys are superstars. They just aren't generational level talents that we are used to seeing heading the past couple of decades of championships from Giannis and Jokic to LeBron and Steph. All these guys are generational level talents. You don't have to be generational level talent to be a superstar.
You might be right about the 2nd part, but i don't believe tatum as a lone star would do anything ya. Put him in denver or dallas and those teams are irrelevant teams who would struggle to make the playin game. To me a superstar is someone you could credibly argue is a reasonable MVP, which is usually the top 3-4 guys in the league.
I’m not sure I appreciate the fixation on having a “Numero Uno.” Rockets’ fans should just pray that Sengun and Green figure out how to play well together. Like, let’s say Green averages 28 ppg, but Sengun also puts up a ridiculous line like 23/12/6. Who is the “Numero Uno?” Frankly, it doesn’t matter. You build around that pair. And if you think that’s unlikely, look at OKC — Shai is averaging 28, and Chet is averaging 23/13/3.
Alperen should be "numero zero" and somehow save himself from this dump with no offense as soon as possible.. He made a big mistake by signing that contract too..
Larry Bird would have a rebuttal to this He called the media cash cow golden boy GOAT......God in the 86' PO and Jordan didn't win series up to that point and got swept by Bird but his 42-44ppg was no doubt......Superstar Superstars are made in reg. season(MVP), and over hyped grossly by the extended regular season turned into the biggest stage called the Playoffs/ Finals .... Where 'Legends' are manufactured & programmed, excuse me.... are Made
Which returner are you? Why not just **** off again before you get this account inevitably banned for being another SOF troll asshat?
