I’ll say this about Dillon - he tends to be the right guy to play against guys who might be a little soft like Wemby. He plays an aggressive style which is the antidote to skilled players who have never been in a dog fight. He belongs on playoff teams as a situational play as long as you have a deep enough bench that you can pick and choose when you really need him…Houston needs to find ways to get him more and more in that role.
I agree about that, but he is not Bruce Brown or IDK other defensive guys that can control themselves. He is probably not the worst of the loose cannons but he is a ticking time bomb.
Pretty good sign from Green to basically be consistently a positive every game so far. More than that, having back to back dominant offensive games against the same team, and against the best defensive player in the league, is very encouraging. I actually expected Green to struggle more this game because the Spurs clearly would have game-planned around slowing Green down, and you have a lot of potential ways of doing that if you have Wemby protecting the rim. However, not only did he not struggle, but played an even better game. Wemby caused a lot of issues for a lot of the players on this team, but Green played remarkably well regardless of whether Wemby was on or off the court. If Green can navigate around Wemby, he can navigate around any other rim protector.
I had to work really late tonite and I missed the game. So I’m one of those box score idiots but damn Jalen’s box score numbers are absurd. And we won. Go Rockets
Green really needs to learn how to draw fouls consistently. That move in the 4th where he sort of went into the defenders chest and drew the foul for the and 1 is exactly what he needs to be doing every time he drives. Green is good but he's not going to shoot like this from three every night. He needs a way to score 25 points even when he is having an off shooting game, and that is by living at the FT line. You cannot be an elite scorer in this league unless you get to the line consistently.
Clearly a great start to the season and very encouraging, the shots going in and the process is good. The next hurdle is being able to mostly sustain that through the season.
Looking at that he has ways to go but he upped his percentage from 34% to 36% from 3. At least. https://www.espn.com/nba/team/stats/_/name/hou/table/game/sort/shootingEfficiency/dir/desc
There should be zero complaints about Jalen Green's play this year. Phenomenal. Right now Jalen Green, Evan Mobley, and Cade Cunningham are playing like superstars. I like our guy best!
He has been playing great. My main concern is that many of his shots are very difficult. He is having trouble in getting easy looks IMHO. So, I hope he can maintain his shot making with these difficult shots. If he can he can become a superstar.
He's not done improving either. I estimate at least one more year of developing significantly more under Udoka. He had the worst fundamentals when we started this thing. Plenty of refining to be done. Things are looking great for the Rockets' future.
This is true. That's why he really needs to cut down on jumpers and get to the rim a little more frequently. Get more free throws and assists. These are staples of a sustainable and efficient shot diet for a guard.
The thing I like best about Jalen is the defensive ability he has shown these past 4 games. From being arguably the worst defender in the league the fact that he has transformed into a really good point of attack defender in just over a year is mind boggling to me. And he is still so young, only 22 yrs old. I think he is gonna be a Jaylen Brown type of player in 3 yrs.
