Ime just needs to give Alpi the keys more. Ime has the players who CAN be creative offensively. So far, he has been discouraging Alpi from trying the more creative stuff. He kept talking about "making the simple pass instead of the fancy pass". I get that he was trying to instill some discipline, but when you have a guy as creative as Alpi, you should fully take advantage of that instead of stifling it. I am pretty sure that they get along very well on a personal level. Alpi is very coachable. Ime just needs to trust him a bit more. Alpi should have earned that trust last season.
Thanks for this beautiful piece. But you forgot to mention how you refute my proof. MJ isn't the name here to mention. Give me a player from Sengun's draft class, the ones who got the max recently. Did any of them get benched like in entire 4th quarter? Ime wouldn't do this if he wasn't an expendable piece. Next summer, expect a big trade.
I think it's got nothing to do with "giving him the keys" and it has everything to do with offensive system. I think Sengun's most important and impactful trait is his passing. It doesn't matter how much "creative stuff" Sengun is allowed to do if nobody moves. And when Sengun gets the ball, nobody moves, that's the problem. My favorite template for how Sengun should play is actually not Jokic but Draymond. Draymond averaged 8 assists per game for an entire decade and he does a huge portion of his playmaking out of the post. But the thing is, when he gets the ball in the post, their ENTIRE TEAM is moving. It's not even just a designed play for one thing to happen, he's got multiple reads, multiple screens, tons of stuff going on. But Draymond is a very very gifted passer, they trust him to find these passes, and he does. Here are some examples from last year - https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=249rPK https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=245uci https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=24JJ8D https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=24FKMt https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=244jr0 https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=241Ip1 https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=24Pe2f It took me like 5 minutes to find these, and I only got through a few games. I could literally post hundreds of these from any given season. Look how different that looks compared to our offense? Look how they're all moving around, offball screens everywhere, cutters everywhere. It's so hard to guard. It doesn't matter how much Sengun has the ball, or how much the coach trusts him, or how much he's allowed to be creative. The problem is that Ime has no offensive chops. Our system is pick and roll, perimeter ISO, or Sengun post ISO. That's it.
Your question was a name for a "franchise player" that has ever been benched. Don't move the goal post when facts are presented to you. The context of your question did not include the duration of benching. Your anti-Sengun crusade has led you to go to lengths that have already been debunked. Enough.
The fact you presented has nothing to do with Sengun. I'm not anti-Sengun at all but it's super clear his days are numbered with Rockets. We gotta see who we can trade him for.
Yeah I know, just saying, that trade would never happen. I think they are all unlikely, but the Rockets wouldn't be insane enough to trade a young budding star for a then 37 year old or something.
"Not anti-Sengun at all". Really? It would be appropriate if you consolidate all of your posts lately and show us if your denial is credible.
I know that and nobody can give me an example of benched max players from 2021 class for entire quarter...Sengun is the only one. Ime doesn't favor him because he doesn't fit to the game plan. Listen what he said after the game about him.
My posts are realistic. I'm a Rockets fan so my priority is to see Rockets making playoffs this season. With Sengun, can we even make play-in?
Of course. It is logical. However, I was responding to a hypothetical post with a hypothetical dream scenario for me to see a loaded Miami Heat team playing against the champion Celtics which was my other all-time favorite NBA team in an ECF series.
I don’t know, I just think you might be overthinking it early on. 1-2 years from now Sengun probably has a serviceable 3PT shot. From that point onwards you can use him as a floor space whenever you want to run something for Jalen with someone else (Amen PnR?). Still leaves Sengun with tons of time to do his thing. We will always need more than one playmaker in the starting lineup. Sengun has shown himself to be a formidable PnR player. I’m sure Jalen can learn to take advantage of that the same way Fred does. Things will be a lot smoother in 10-15 or so games. Udoka is just very slow at adjusting the offense.
Close to max with a player option the year 5. That deal has flexibility for him and can end up making more than the max.
Udoka's style is defense first, which puzzles me why they gave Alpi the extension. Alpi is an offense first player. Your coach and main player has to coincide with each other, if not, things like Saturday night happens.
What pisses me off about missing out on Chet/Wemby is that they were literally the perfect players that you’d want next to Alperen. Great mobile Defensive bigs that can hit the open 3s
