I think we need to focus on designing the offense around his ability to pass. Adelman concepts. He needs to continue to pull the trigger on the three. Two weeks from now, we will only have one more matchup against VW. He will be fine.
By the time he was taken out, he had the same +/- as the other starters. I guess Ime wanted to send some kind of message or whatever, but it felt like scapegoating. The whole team was playing badly.
Nah sorry, I'm all in on the Alpi/Jalen duo, but Alpi was trash tonight. Friggin Sochan shut him down, and it didn't look like he had to try that hard.
I hate the Spurs so much.. it's crazy how big of a difference your team can be if you just draft a franchise superstar. You can already tell Spurs are gonna be up there with OKC in 3 years just running the West if they get another top 5 lotto pick. Sengun is good but I just don't see him being a future top 5 player because of his size and lateral.
Udoka needs to chill out with that benching crap. Sengun is a vet now, he already got his bag. At some point he’s gonna tune you out and may not go back into the game with a couple of garbage seconds left. You just gave him 185 mil, draw up some damn plays to get him going instead of going back to your tired benching bullsh*t.
Strangely didn't see you advocating for Green to be allowed to "play his way out of it" when he was benched for ******** the bed last season and having low energy. Since when did Alpi need coddling?
What kind of nonsense is this bullshit? So we want a hard nosed coach who holds people accountable, but not for poor baby Alpi in case he throws a tantrum and won't go back in the game? So Sengun isn't the competitor we all thought he was and is instead a petulant little b****? Is that your narrative?
My narrative is…don’t constantly show up your vets cause they may tune you out. Ime won’t pull that crap with Fred or Brooks. Cause Brooks definitely not going back into the game. And they’ve had way quite a few stinkers.
I’m not worried about Sengun. He’s been a pretty consistent player through 3 seasons. I’m good with Ime benching anyone who isn’t giving 100% or playing smart basketball. Sengun didn’t have it tonight. I wish we had gone to him more when Wemby was on the bench, but objectively Sengun didn’t play well. Hopefully he comes out more disciplined, less sloppy, with maximum effort next game. But Ime’s got to be more creative offensively. Our offense is just not good; it’s much more than just a bad night from Sengun.
So you want special treatment for special little puddin' Alpi? Is he too much of a princess to play hard because of his competitive spirit if he gets benched for playing like trash?
I see you’re getting your panties in a wad cause you think I’m asking for special treatment for Alpi. Never said that. A coach job is to build up their players. The constant benching of someone you think that can be a contributor is the opposite of that to me. Now f*** off.
That's not how +/- works. If you have a weak link in the line-up, the entire line-up's +/- will be negatively affected equally. If you remove the weak link and the team goes on a run, then the other 4 guy's +/- will improve whilst the weak link's +/- will remain bad. We can conclude in this game that the team went on a run when Sengun was on the bench, but not because he was on the bench. No correlation can be drawn from single game +/-, and Sengun has shown that he is a net positive player long term. However, Sengun is not immune to bad games and certainly shouldn't be immune to benching. Sengun simply had an uncharacteristically bad game.
I honestly didn’t think he was having that bad of a game. He went to the line, hit a 3, next thing you know he’s riding the pine with Reed and Amen.
