Is it really a new rule. I remember there was a game last year where they called a foul after the replay even though the challenge was completely about something else.

Every year, the NBA come up with some shady update to the rules.

I sure hope so. He might revert to bad habits, if he doesn't shoot the ball well.

Nice game. Jalen and Jabari kept us in it when it was slipping away and that amen and tari and cam lineup was killer. Offense is still clunky though.

We can't have different opinions on certain players? Just because I don't see/view Jalen the way you and some here must mean I don't watch the game? I didn't even know he went 8-21 for the game until people start mentioning it. I just want him to play within the flow of the offense. As a star, folks are going to be more critical about his game compare to the bench and the role players.

I mean, just look at Jabari and the posters here lol.

rockets only shot 39% in the first half. yikes
grizzlies shot above 50% in the first half and they were making pretty much almost all the open 3s.

until they hire some sort of offensive assistant, expect the inconsistent offense.

Dude some star players are just not having fun beginnings of their season my god Halliburton with a literal goose egg and the dude has the ball in his hands as the primary ball handler.

Quite frankly this is just the modern NBA.

News flash. 3 pt shooting has more variance than 2 pt fgs and therefore in a modern era of a lot more threes means more crazy swings, massive leads being erased etc.

In the 90s a 20 pt lead in the third is almost garbage time. Today, a 20 pt lead in the third can be erased by a 4 minute hot streak.

I agree with that, nevertheless our guys didn't panic and we won. Half court execution and shooting is what the Rockets need to get better at.

Jock is ok, but I'm unhappy that Steven Adams is not ready to play as yet. We need him to be fit.

True, though let’s not forget that in our loss to the Hornets we also struggled in 2 pts shots (25/60 wasn’t it?).

"Jalen played great" is not an opinion it is a fact and backed by statistical data.

Going 8/21 looks bad until you realize he also took 8 threes, 6 rebs and 5 assists. That means even if he was bricking he was making it up in other ways on offense. At worst Jalen was a wash offensively, he didnt hurt the team but he also didnt help the team much. And then you look into it and realize he got hot when the lead of Memphis got big and he cut it down to single digits. That means if he wasnt in the game then the Rox would have been blown out. Maybe Tari and Amen get low energy from being down 30 and never recover.

And then you see Jabari and Sengun also shot the same FG% but made 0 threes. That means Jalen was actually more efficient than them because a 3 is more than a 2. Jalen provided the spacing which allowed everyone else to score.

And thats on the offense, on the defensive side Jalen was right up there with Tari and Amen tonight. He got a ton of deflections, a block and 3 steals. He pretty much covered J. Wells all game.

Grizzlies arent a joke they are a play in team. Shooting a low FG% against them is to be expected but at least Jalen made up for it in other ways and also made the opponent shoot bad as well.

To just look at the box score and say he played bad O think that just shows you have low understanding of the game or didnt watch it.

Maybe that first game was needed for them to show up for this one, everyone was showing energy, toughness and a willingness to play defense and get after it. If there’s one big complaint about our defense is the amount of lunging at shooters and gambling for steals, which results in more pressure on the the rest of the guys. Just play solid defense and we’ll be better off.

I compliment the coaching staff on adjusting in the 2nd half, because that 2nd quarter, bringing in all bench guys is just not the way to go, but they are still really figuring out the rotations so it’s forgiven. As long as they learn and not repeat the same mistake. I do think the starters stayed in for too long, but since they kept everyone save Jabari under 32, they also get a pass for it. I understand they really wanted to secure the win and reward guys.

This was just a great win and I am particularly happy for Jabari, Tari, Reed & Cam.
    - Jabari because everyone was ready to write him off and replace him in the starting line-up, ridiculous suggestion when Amen is your idea to replace him. That hustle on the offensive glass and using his length was just not there against the Hornets and he still plays too small for his size, but we need to be patient with him since he just needs to fill out that frame of his over the next 2 years to really take advantage of his size and speed.
    - Tari because some thought he cannot bring enough on offense and forgot he actually was a decent shooter, which he proved now again he can. But even more so how valuable his hustle and IQ is, the guy might look like a lose cannon who is all over the place, but he actually knows where to be and is just everywhere with his hands. He could’ve gotten a few steals and blocks last night based on his activity on defense. Only that 2-on-1 fast break he really flunked it.
    - Reed because he was very hesitant in the first game to let it rip and now he got it going at least for a few minutes and go 2 for 2. Cam because he seemed to just sulk and be a detriment on defense, but now he finally showed some fire and loved how he kept his cool in going at Morant and ripping that ball away from Edey was just beautiful.

As far as the rest goes, good to see FVV be the guy we know he can be. Brooks did just enough to not be a negative on offense in particular. Defense luckily wasn’t playing stupid like against the Hornets. We kept our cool overall. Jock was a non-factor and falling over FVV was something else…I want to see Jeff or McVeigh next time regardless. Green and Sengun are both show their strengths and weaknesses, having great highs and lows on offense in particular. Luckily defensively they bring it and it’s good to see, especially from Green.

All in all, great win where we showed hustle, toughness and determination! We just attacked relentlessly and didn’t allow Ja nor Smart to frustrate us. We took Smart and Bane out completely and it was very impressive. Like has been said, we will likely win with defense and hustle this year.
