Harden has been in the league 15 years and has never missed playoffs. We lost a home opener to the Hornets. Whether you want Harden back or not is one thing, but if you really think FVV and co are going to get us anywhere you've got to start having some doubts about this current strategy. There is such a big gap in talent between the stars in this league and everyone else, we do not have a star on this roster.

This is a crazy take. Not even close to the talent of CP3 rockets. We don't have a single player on the roster in the same stratosphere as CP3.

I get that Harden was this superstar but the West has gotten so much better and parity is now bigger than ever.....

I have no problem watching Harden barking at Jabrari and Jacary barking back.......

That year CP3 was better than every current rockets player combined...

The current rockets have a lot of development and haven't reached their peak but no player in our current startinf lineup would be better than anyone on that team.

So we rebuilt for 3 yrs just to top off at making the playoffs? Harden signed an albatross contract we can get rid of FVV next year if we want. That is the reason why FVV is better.

The bolded part of your quote is not true anymore. Nobody considers Derrick White a superstar but he is better than a lot of so-called superstars including current James Harden and Paul George.

Clippers also lost their opener. If the talent gap is so huge why Harden only shot 35% FG and 22% from 3 along with bad defense? LOL stop living in the past this isnt 2018 this is 2024 already.

Like moths to a flame. Mention his name on clutchfans and they never fail to show up. Truly no one is more dedicated to James than them.

How is Harden's contract an albatross contract? You realise he gets paid less than FVV by 9 mil right? Harden's in the first year of a 2 year deal, he gets paid less than Sengun or Jalen will get paid annually on their new deals.

For what they are both making this year, I'd take Harden over FVV.

I'd be surprised if FVV is here next year on the same contract. He's either gone or he gets a way cheaper extension but more years.

Word. People greatly overvalue guys that are "decent at a lot of things" instead of "great at their specific role". The 2nd type is how teams win in the NBA. That 2018 team had incredible roster balance.

At the very least you are self aware enough to realize that you are the head honcho of Harden fandom. Didn’t even have to mention who I was referring to. You and kjaydumbass.

But you know just as well as I do that checking users post history’s is quick and easy. A glance at yours and you see its post after post after post in Harden threads. Hell you recently even popped into a Steph curry thread to mention your favorite man completely unprovoked. He stays on your brain 24/7. A quick glance at mine and you see mostly discussion of you know…the team I root for…not Harden.

I mean, your first point is kinda contradictory to your second. It’s great that FVV is only 30 with a team option next season. Conversely, Harden is 35 with a player option next season. You can’t compare the contracts apples-to-apples.

lol White is not better than Harden or George. That is crazy. Has White ever been the second best player on a playoff team.....nope. He has the luxury of playing with superstars now. He can't be the number 1 or 2 option on a successful team. Some people overrate role players from successful teams as if they could be the number 1 option and have success.

For the record, they both offer different things. Harden is more adaptable than Fred. Fred can't just come out and be a high rebounding, high scoring guard like Harden can be.

Fred has never shot better than 42 percent in his career. Harden has lost a step but I still expect him to average about 20ppg on 44 percent shooting by the end of the season.

People are so dramatic on here, "embarrassing" would be a stretch, you can make arguments for either. Harden with no PG and no Kawhi running a team can make average players look really good. Trying to make him third fiddle with a bunch of guys who can't stay on the court and constantly needing to change whether you want him to be Rockets James Harden or some new version the team wants is what confuses people as to what he can add. He has done what has been asked of him in my opinion. Whether he is a fit for this team or not is up for debate, but I hardly find the suggestion embarrassing. He just beat the Nuggets on the road w 22/16/6. Those 16 assists are an example of what he does for below average NBA players. He kept them in a tough OT matchup w KD going bananas in the home opener. I think people here are guilty of what most of the the league was doing when Harden was in Houston, which is not actually watching the games and just the box score.
