Illinois is solid red except for the Chicagoland area and a couple of counties around Peoria/Bloomington and a couple other towns. So, if he's converted black voters in Chicago, he's definitely taking the whole state. Yeah, but it's a feature not a bug. Trump is saying these other countries have strong authoritarian leaders and the US needs a strong authoritarian leader to compete. A lot of voters find that appealing, and they scoff at the dandyish handwringing of liberals over separation of powers and the other fine points of Western Liberal Democracy that will just get in the way of decisive action. At this point, I don't see the benefit in pointing out that Trump is a fascist. Too many voters had failed to internalize the values of the American Revolution in their civics class. You can't send them back to high school now. I can understand that. I grew up in a hispanic working class neighborhood and in one way I can feel like I know these people, but I also went on to a great college, got a knowledge economy white-collar job. My friends as a kid were almost all hispanic and black and poor. Nowadays, they're almost all white and well-to-do. Even though I feel like I'm 'from there' if I went campaigning as a politician and tried to reclaim my roots, I'd probably get them asking "where ya been?" I think Obama does a great job of being personable despite going ivory tower. Vance, not as much.

I can't find anything sources that said Epstein moved to the house in 1996. The best source I can find is a January 1996 NYT article that says Epstein said the house is his. So Epstein could've moved there earlier than 1996. Epstein and the previous owner of the house, Wexner, also had a very close relationship. According to the Vanity Fair article in 2003, Epstein had power of fiduciary over Wexner's private trust and foundations. The Vanity Fair article also said Wexner moved to Ohio in 1993*. So Epstein could've been at the house in 1993. There is also no records of Epstein ever paying Wexner for the house. So there is no evidence that Epstein bought and move in to the house in 1996 like a typical real estate transaction. This is not evidence that Epstein was at the house in 1993, but it's also not a smoking gun evidence that Stacey Williams had lied. I'd welcome to see other evidence though. *EDIT: I could be incorrect here. The vanity fair article said that Wexner got married in 1993, not that he moved in 1993. Though In the NYT article, Epstein was quoted saying Wexner did not spend more than two month at that house. So the house likely sat empty most of the time.
