I’ve always said Thibs is fools gold. Can get you to a top 4 finish after squeezing the life out of your roster while barking his ass off on the bench but lacks the creativity and big picture vision to be a championship coach. Has 0 ability to inspire players to inspire themselves.

He was always meant to be a lead defensive assistant but that Celtics/Rivers title artificially boosted his profile.

Always happy to see a big market team bury themselves.

Several teams, including the Rockets, Grizzlies, Jazz, and Pelicans, were in contact with Brooklyn trying to acquire Bridges recently, league sources told HoopsHype.

Houston is continuing to seek upgrades to help the team improve now, and Rockets coach Ime Udoka remains a fan of his former Celtics player, Marcus Smart, on the Grizzlies, league sources told HoopsHype. Amid trade conversations around the league, the Rockets continue to dangle the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and future draft pick compensation.

Trading away stars means your title shot has passed, and you're admitting defeat. There's also no guarantee you get more back than you gave out, we narrowly avoided giving up a top 5 pick for Westbrook.

“Dangling #3 with future picks to improve the team” and “Ime remains a fan of Marcus Smart” are two completely different topics, in my opinion. Any picks exchanged in a Smart deal should be coming to us. I wouldn’t even give up Tate and Jeff for Smart + a pick. That kills our ability to salary match in a trade later.

His shot form reminds me of Chuck Hayes's FT shooting.

If out of the nets swap/Mavs pick/suns picks one is a top 10 pick the rockets should trade that for 2 future firsts. You could bring in a continuation of assets from the Harden trade extending it for longer than one would think.

What is with all those players re-creating and re-structuring their shot? Especially those that have shot close to 40%

Dodged a huge bullet. Never understood the Bridges love. I think the Knicks struggle to win 50

    2 of 7 3's (28.6%) in season opener.
    -33 in +/-

Mikal probably should not have start changing his shot.

Bridges is very good player. Anyone can have a bad game, especially when getting accustomed to a new team. But I don’t think Bridges will become an MVP candidate with the Knicks.

He was picked up by New York to be their 1B or 1C star. Brunson is their #1 option. But Bridges brings defense with very respectable offensive tools.

Bridges went there to be a solid 3rd option. Kat is easily a better offensive player than Bridges.

I'm almost confident Jalen Green's floor is creeping near what Bridges is as a player now with a astronomical higher ceiling

Though I think you are mostly right, I think there is a sliver of hope that Bridges can be that 1A or 1B… The Knicks gave up a lot for Bridges on account that Bridges numbers still keep trending up. It will be interesting to see what happens there, especially when it was rumored the Rockets were themselves interested in going all in for Bridges.

I don't think anyone believes Bridges can be a 1A. They would be lucky if he were a championship 1B offensively.

Being the 3rd best scorer, a good spacer and an elite wing defender can easily be the second best player on a championship team though.

The Knick were in a position to deal and they took the best player they could get. They needed to improve their team and this was the only way to do it. Whether Bridges is enough or not remains to be seen, but they know that the picks they gave up are worth next to nothing for them. It would not benefit them one bit to sit on them. From their standpoint, they did not give up a lot. They gave up a bunch Usman Garubas and Josh Christophers.
