Tanking/rebuilding has turned the analytical thinking here into: Before age 25: infinite potential, future star After age 25: one foot in the grave
Bingo ... NOW we're going to get all over possessive? Why? If bringing in Harden/Durant means you lose 4 of the core 7 and more than likely BOTH Jalen and Sengun and we become elite/contender quality, but win "only" one championship inside that 3 year window would people still do it?
There's no guarantee we'd win a championship with those two who are both 35-40 years old in thier smaller competitive window here. This would be sacrificing long-term growth and potential for short-term impatience to win everything now. Our core is 20-23 years old and can potentially compete for a decade or more versus a few years before past prime players start getting injured and overpaid. This would be a terrible move for impatience and past nostalgia imo.
James Harden.....AGAIN? Maaaan stawp the madness. We just locked up two of our young core, Lets keep developing the young guys and see where it goes. You can't move forward living in the past, besides theses two old dogs (Harden & Durant) are nearly done.
I have a really hard time believing that the Rockets Front Office respects Durant's contributions to winning at this stage in his career considering the fact that they bet against him both in Brooklyn and Phoenix.
He's also probably a lot more affordable than Durant at this stage in their careers. I doubt we get Durant without losing one of Alpi, Jalen or Amen. I could see a scenario where we keep all 3 and can still land Beard though. Like you say, later years PG Harden would quarterback this roster into the respectable offense we've never had since Beard left in the first place...
With Leonard injured maybe the Clippers tank for Flagg? If you can pick up Harden for cheap and preserve the coriest of the core, why not? Maybe we could get them to throw in KPJ too.
They can't really tank. If they drop below us in the standings, OKC gets their pick instead of ours. They are in the Nets position last year.
Forget Durant he’s too expensive. I can see us possibly getting Harden back but not this year. Maybe in 2025 Hardens stock is low… if we some how flip FVF for something and maybe we could make it work.
Wonder if the Suns are actually trying to get Jabari. He's basically the ideal swap for Durant from their perspective.
Exactly. I love Harden but I do t want to go back to Harden-centric offense.i don’t even think that would be good for this team as currently constructed.
