I just saw this for the first time last week on DVD. After watching it, I really didn't like the plot twist and ending but I haven't been able to get the film out of my head ever since. Maybe because of the Firestone tire recall in the news (remember Norton's character explained how and when his company issues recalls?) or maybe because half my apartment is decorated in IKEA furniture. Anyway, I give the film a C-.
You didn't like the plot twist? Oh come on. I agree...the ending sucked arse but the plot twist...unless you saw it coming...was a pleasant surprise in my opinion. I watched it on Satellite PPV and was pissed because it was a one time showing and I could not go back and watch it again to pick up on all the hints before the plot twist was revealed. I think my grade is a B- because I love violence and anarchy in movies. But, the ending stunk so bad...it would have got higher if it had been better. Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler . . . . The thought of someone beating the crap out of themselves was unheard of until I saw this movie. Surf ------------------
I saw the last 40 minutes of the movie, it wasn't great but I didn't think it was bad. Surfguy, watch Evil Dead 2.
I just watched this movie tonight. It was definitely interesting. I admit, I never saw the plot twist coming at all! ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel-boy.
Man, I don't know about you ladies, but after that movie I wanted to beat the crap outta someone. I really liked the movie. I think Edward Norton AND Brad Pitt are very good actors and were cast very well for this flick. Does anyone else out there think Pitt is underrated as an actor? That his acting ability is overlooked because most people just want to sit there and talk about his looks? Movies of his that I have really enjoyed: "Legend of the Fall" "A River Runs Through It" "12 Monkeys" "Seven" "Fight Club" "Kalifornia" "True Romance" "Interview With The Vampire" One that I didn't necessarily "enjoy" but was a good movie was "Sleepers". And, I've heard that "Seven Years in Tibet" was good, but a little slow. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. I loved this movie and the ending was the best thing of the movie.Dreamer im with you Pitt is very underated i specially like his role in the 12 monkeys. ------------------
It is hard to say about Pitt, but he acted very very very welll in 12 monkeys. He does act well in everything, but his 12 monkeys performance was oscarworthy in my opinion. He played his character and his role to a T. ------------------ Jackie Treehorn treats objects like women!
Hey Dreamer, did you hear about the line they changed in the movie? In the original scene (on the DVD) where Tyler and Marla finish having sex and are laying in bed, Marla says to him "I want to have your abortion". (it was replaced with "I haven't been ****ed like that since grade school" ) The studio execs told Fincher to take it out but then when they heard the new line they wanted him to put it back in.
outlaw, No I didn't hear about that. But, both lines fit the movie and the character. Both are, of course, offensive, but then that was her character. I've only seen the movie once, but thinking back on it, I think the line they editted out would've fit Marla better. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page

I can tell you from experience its harder to keep quiet about fighting when you're middle aged. "Hey you want to take the kids to go apple picking and the corn maze this weekend?" "No I think we should just do something indoor where we sit down for a long time..." "C'mon it will be fun and the weather is great.. "Well you see my knees and back are really sore and I think I hypered my elbow last night fighting someone in the basement of a dive bar. So no I don't think I want to go apple picking this weekend... Also can you order some more ibuprofen from Amazon?"
