Even Sam V said it is a discount.

Unless you have proof Sengun got scared I dunno how you are so confident.

I really wonder about no trade clause or trade kicker in Alpi's contract.

I guess MJ and Tim Duncan had garbage mentality since they played at a massive discount for most of their career amirite?

Melo and Cp3 had the correct mentality asking to be traded which cost their teams assets just so they can get the maximum amount of cash possible. They have the correct mindset get the biggest bag possible at all cost.

Cp3 would rather get paid 10M and go to a doormat rather than get vet min and win a ring. Thats the kind of mentality we need money at all cost, baby. Bag Mindset ftw!!!

Whatever you feel about what they should think doesn't matter...Both JG and Sengun were obviously happy with the deal they got so they signed their respective contracts...Thats what matters!

    Alpi signs extension.

BTG: "Hmm... how can I turn this into a slam on Jalen?"

There was no doubt in my mind Green would not accept a max and we were going to have to let him walk or panic trade him.

Same in expecting Şengün to be a guaranteed full max.

I can’t believe Stone pulled this off. He’s been hitting on the drafts too.

He’s considerably better than Morey if he pulls this off and this team makes a solid run in the next few seasons. Morey honestly gets too much credit for getting lucky with Harden.

Him getting paid less than Mobley and Wagner is a criminal offense. He should fire whoever was in charge in negotiations. Stone did a terrific job.

am I correct in seeing both these deals as the players (and their agents) valuing the last year option, and the ability to opt out and sign for more, as more valuable than a guaranteed higher rate on a longer deal? feels like a win/win for both sides.

First of all, "garbage mentality"? Take it easy, don't put words in my mouth. I'm not calling anyone or their mentality "garbage".

Second, this is not at all the same thing. You're talking about players who were winning MVPs and winning rings. Then you bring up players who were already established, and had already signed max contracts, taking discounts later in their careers for the benefit of the team. These are not remotely comparable situations.

There is an enormous difference between "I am not worth a max, my play doesn't warrant it, so I must accept a lower contract" and "Everyone knows I am obviously worth a max, but I am choosing to accept less for the benefit of the team." Every guy you listed is very very obviously in the second camp. If you want to say that Sengun is in that camp too, then fine. I don't agree and we can't really know. But if he's in the first camp, I don't like it. That's all I'm saying.

    Hahahahaha :D

@Clutch also got a 5-year extension for a lot of "Sengunatics" (unless he bans them all)...there will only be more of them from here on out.

Really impressed with Stone here. I’m more confident on how the FO will handle the next round of contracts/roster moves. Off to a great start.
