Yes I was wrong about the cap hold but we still lose out on our flexibility to sign a better player this summer. Because like I said we could just released his cap hold. It just doesn't make sense to do it right now because I don't think he shown to be a 30 million a year player. Just cuz other teams are being dumb and over paying their scrubs doesn't mean we should,
With all due respect, you are wrong! Green making a deal and his plans on being a Rocket are two independent variables. Let me explain this way. Let's say "all clementines are orange" is an independent variable and "some balls are orange" is another one. Based on these independent variables, we canNOT assess that "some balls must be clementines."
If you can’t see that that’s Jabari’s ceiling then you know nothing about basketball. Dante is also a 20 year old is his ceiling also Dwight Howard?
It's so funny how the most ignorant on this board are the most willing to make grand assertions. Sad, really.
Are you willing to bet your life Jalen will be such a scrub the Rox are better off cutting him for nothing than getting anything for him? Thats the only scenario what you are saying makes any sense. Who are you even gonna sign in the offseason? Have you even seen the free agent market?
They signed for the full max at lesser year so they can sign a new max that gives them more money. Instead of 5 year deal at old max they got the 2+1 so they get their new max earlier. That's called betting on yourself. You are saying no way Green wants a lower number of guaranteed years. If Green thinks he is worth a max and Rox wont budge at 35M then yes Green would be the one to push for 2+1 similar to Luka and Trae.
Not really. He is better at shooting open 3s and thats about it. You are sleeping on JG's creation, defense and playmaking which have all leveled up during last year. Suggs looks better as he is playing with Banchero and Franz its almost like you forgot he was called a bust in his rookie year.
A build on "Last March" buy everyone involved some time kinda deal. I approve. Jalen Green is a late bloomer and might need some extra time.
Not necessarily. The Rockets have his Bird rights, so they more than likely would still be able to offer him more than any other team in three years. Sure, he'll be able to test the waters sooner than most, but if the guy turns into a stud here, I think the odds of him re-signing are pretty high.
Which also transfer if they decide to trade him making him a more valuable chip in that regard as well. DD
I don't love that they signed Green to a large extension before he proved it, but if they had to do it, getting a $10 million per year discount on top of just three years feels like a pretty good compromise. I've been skeptical of Green in the past, but I'm as optimistic on him as I've been in quite some time. The shot is looking better, he's playing defense and he's starting to play winning basketball. He doesn't have to be elite to justify this contract—if he's even just a borderline All-Star caliber player, this contract will be worth it. He just needs to become more efficient, and we saw what he's capable of when he does that for a stretch last season.
If he blows up, Green can end up earning more than the max over the next five after his extension kicks in (240 mil v. 224) AND sign his third deal much earlier. If he signs his third deal at 24, he can sign his fourth at 28, fifth at 32. This arrangement's upside is incredible.
Rox fan and Jater aren’t mutually exclusive you know. Pretending to wear a Rox fan hat does not make you less of a Jater.
