Not even remotely close as a one on one scorer, i know you're just here to troll and it's all good but try harder
You may want to go watch those games because while the Tex triangle called for ball movement/Center able to hit jumper ........it was still get the ball to MJ and get out the way And if you think Phil toned him down, you may need to go check his shots per game, it was more so Pippen coming into his own than Jackson toning him down Jordan also had D Smith as a coach, so Jordan was already groomed/toned down by that UNC 3 yr run Kobe wasn't nowhere near Jordan in scoring Titles.....but Kobe was basically old man 2nd three-peat Jordan with a 3pt shot better Which is why he has scoring streaks only outdone by Wilt, and that 81pt game, I don't think Jordan ever hit 70pts in one game When talking about scoring big time and winning rings what was the support cast for those you mentioned like King etc? Were they legit contenders to begin with? Melo could have went to Heat and then narrative would be diff........its hard to win a title without proper high level talent, this ain't golf or singles tennis Winning over hypes up everything from being team leader in any of the 5 or so major categories By the media early on Jordan was called a ball hog scoring champ who couldn't win big that way, until he won 6 and then the script/narrative flipped and the Scoring guard talk went into overdrive to pump up Jordan even more because he is their corporate cash cow Each title team had a big time scorer/go to guy for most part with a legit big 2/3 and support cast/coach involved as well.......
He's been hating on Sengun from day one. There is no problem criticizing a player when they play poorly, but the constant stream of criticism no matter what is weird.
I lived in Chicago and was a rabid Bulls fan long before Jordan came, and I watched all of his games from his first preseason game to his first game at the then Chicago Stadium and on and on. I also read all the news articles in Chicago news papers and the daily news reports and other sources. Jordan had a tendency to over dominate scoring before Phil became the head coach but the team did no do very well in the playoffs with Jordan hugging the ball. Phil Jackson, and this was all over the news then, told Jordan to play within the team concept and tone down his scoring so as to involve his teammates in the offense. He also had Pippen be what he called the "facilitator" to run the offense and make the decisions for the team on the court. Of course, Jordan was still the main focus of the offense but his teammates were able to have their share of the shots unlike before. And the rest is history. I was in most Bulls games at the arena and saw first hand how they played. Btw, Jerry Krause the manager created reams of stats for Phil but he hardly read them and just relied on his staff to provide him with only important stats. And he won two three peats without the Krause stats. Even with the Lakers, Phil only referred to stats to support his concepts about teams and players but he never went into the "advanced analytics" that are missing so many variables to have enough real scientific validity. Those numbers are good for discussions but they need controlled variables to have some context. Anyway, the fact is that high scorers do not necessarily translate to the success of teams, especially in the playoffs. The Rockets, of course, are the best example of that even during the championship years.
Cool personal story Now Jordan took 28 shots per one season before Phil and with Phil as HC & Assistant, Jordan took around 23-24 per game...... Which I say better support cast with Pippen coming of age and he had sniper specialists around him Before Phil got there or was Assistant, Jordan had a double digit stretch of games avg 11apg.......then in 91' Finals avg 10+ assist per because he was already trained by Smith/UNC/Olympic team preNBA to be team player... The Bulls overall team sucked so he had to volume shoot out of necessity.....you should know that if you followed the team as you proclaim to do Phil was just the NBA version of Smith at UNC..... both were big on team play n fundamentals etc All the advanced metrics etc is not my angle here Its that the triangle was the Jordan offense with more passing initially, with the ball ending up in Jordan hand, especially in playoffs Jordan avg 40+ ppg getting swept early on and later in 93' Finals You have to shoot volume shots per game to avg 40+ ppg in a series But if you want to say Phil toned him down so be it But it was more so Pippen being capable of getting 20ppg and Paxson/Armstrong/Kerr etc getting wide open shots off Jordan that took his shots down Similar to how Melo did for Iverson (23 shots to 18 per with Nuggets) But maybe Karl should get the credit for the 5 less shots, he toned Iverson down(not)
So wouldn't 27-28 shots per game to 23-24 shots per game be a tone down? Sure, its why I mentioned Pippen come into in his own being reliable close to 20ppg scorer (trust) He had snipers/specialists from 3 and even his big men could knock down midrange shots to open floor Dean Smith instilled that In college and Phil had to remind the ego maniac in the NBA ....nothing new is under the sun This article basically states what angle I was coming from
BTW, as good as JG is, there is no comparison between MJ and JG...none whatsoever...they are not on the same universe!
Shaq Diesel said Iverson is top 5 all time J West said Wilt would embarrass the 90's Centers Is this true? Its on public record/video
right! we all hate JG...nope! read the title and history of the conversation where you post. So I guess you had Sengun in mind when talking about MJ, right? right!
Today's the day. It'll be interesting to see how these shake out. I suspect both are heading to RFA, but if one or both come in on a value contract today, it could set the Rockets up well for keeping this group together in the long term.
That's incorrect. Bam was the last center to get a rookie max extension until this offseason. So far, from the 2021 draft, Cunningham, Mobley, Wagner, and Barnes have signed rookie max extensions already. Sengun is better than all of them except, maybe, Barnes.
