The only adjustments CJ can make is to get the ball out quicker. However, that come from play designs....Slowick, not.CJ.

The O-line has been a problem ALL year and I'm sure Slowick and Demeco knew what GB's defense was capable of, so is that on CJ, no!

Yeah man I don’t disagree. However, on at least one of those plays, there was a WR running wide open about 8 yards down the field for a first down, CJ hesitated, the rush got there.

On another one he threw underneath to Schultz. Hutchinson was open for a TD, I gotta look at that one again to make sure that he didn’t get open after the throw but he looked open on the replay at first glance.

I’m not giving the o line a pass but CJ is going to have to adjust bc Eric Winston isn’t walking through the door.

    1) I think Desmond really PO'd some folx... I expect / hope we make a move for a vet CB (CLE Newsome?)

    2) I thought he was hopping up & down b/c they didn't SEE the challenge flag otherwise Meco just looks stoopid

    3) YEP!

    4) YEP! Plus most teams know we just rush 4 - rarely 5 & 6. I understand it today with the injuries, but last I checked 5 blockers is more than 4 rushers (kudos for still being able to get home)

    5) I AGREE!

    6) Hhhhmmmmm

    7) Yes, please

    8) YEP

    9) I could see it being a catch b/c of the contact... but if no TO's = moot point (see your # 8)

I said if they didn't score a TD on that last drive they would lose. The offense have to get better.

Last yr, we didn't want Slowick to leave, this year we can't wait until he leaves!

That’s literally not true. He can adjust the protections, he can adjust hot routes, and you’re damn right he can get the ball out quicker.

I shouldn’t have to say this, but this is not me hating on CJ. Sorry that I have higher expectations for my star QB.

I would say Duane Brown over Eric Winston, but point understood.

it's up to the OC to put OL in best position to succeed. I felt like Bobby did that last year with more agile OL... hhhmmmm

    9) Right except if no timeouts GB runs that last drive different. It felt a little too much to ask the defense to prevent a FG attempt in that situation, barring a turnover game changing play of course, which could have and almost did happen.

I agree normally but in this game they were not biting on the threats of any runs because they knew they could not pass protect. The defensive front was not pausing for anything.

Which would hopefully lead to more gashes by RBs - which is what was achieved several times (Romo saw it).

But yeah... if you are not worried about pass pro = big problem. Hence let CJ get into space and he can make a decision of gaining 5 yards with a quick run or finding an open receiver

    Why wouldn’t you hit play?

You watch replays/highlights of plays you've already seen.

Truth be told, you did hit play.

I know, I know, and I even tried to mess with y'all. From now on: NO B-Bob posts in a Texans' game thread until after kickoff.
My powers are just too far-reaching if used in advance of any NFL game. I'll be surprised if the mob doesn't kidnap me and chain me in some basement just to make (bad) NFL picks for the rest of my days.

This is the offensive line equivalent of the butt fumble.

It’s not as much the line talent as how they’re being schemed against…. And the lack of adjustments at the line to account for said scheme. They were able to execute some run formations really well, probably the only positive of the day.

Now that lack of scheme recognition is on everybody (with some on Stroud as well). Thats where experience as a coach (and QB) matters/comes into play.

But even if they do get better at recognizing the pressure, changing the play, etc…. It’s still situational play-calling that is a problem throughout all these games.

When Mixon was gashing them and they started loading the box, begging for a play-action, the Texans opted not to go there. When they started making some progress with some quick reads and they had a chance to go hurry-up to force the defense to stay as is, they either bungled the next play call or made a poor check-down decision resulting in a loss.

But those are things that can get better once recognized as a point of emphasis when playing good defenses…. Clock management decisions, end of game play call decisions, and the occasional red flag decisions are things that I guess they have to fail at before recognizing what not to do the next time.

They’re still well ahead of most teams in the NFL, based on talent alone, but the coaches will have to grow a little faster…. And pray that Stroud doesn’t get killed in the process (likewise, he may end up throwing his 2 cents in on what could be done better next time).
