Nbatalk.com reported that Utah offered Marshall and Russell. However, Thorn believes HVH, Martin, and Marbury are the cornerstones of their franchise. Utah does not have enough to get the deal done.

The details of the deal (as of yesterday): Jazz trade Donyell Marshall, Bryon Russell, and their first round pick in the draft for Keith Van Horn and Aaron Williams.

Can't go down until July 1, at least that's what the beat writer in NJ is saying.

By the way, the Jazz can rot in hell. [IMG]

*sigh* Such enthusiasm, and wasted on a sorry team like the Jazz.

You'd think by now all the disappointments would have broken their spirits.

The Rockets won't get any better at all this offseason, they'll get worse. They will try to use their cap space on Webber, who won't sign with Houston. In the process the Rockets will lose Shandon Anderson, Maurice Taylor and Hakeem Olajuwon to free agency. They will then be left with a worse lineup and have a few draft picks, which they will waste as they did last year (#9 for Jason Collier???). In the meantime we will take Anderson from you, as well as trade Marshall/Russell for Van Horn/Aaron Williams. We will also sign Michael Doleac (another great player that played in Utah in college), who the Magic look to get rid of to clear cap space. By the end of all this it looks like this...

    Utah vs Rockets
    C: OP/Ostertag vs Cato/Collier
    PF: Malone/Williams vs Mo T./KT
    SF: Van Horn/Manning vs Wiz/Langhi
    SG: Shandon/Starks/Stevenson vs Mobley
    PG: Stockton/Vaughn vs Francis/Norris

WOW! Two decent centers versus two very crappy centers. The best Power forward of all time and a very capale backup against two undersized pfs that can't rebound. At SF, dang, our backup SF is ten times better than your starting SF! Then the three S's at SG against Mobley the ballhog! Ha! Then the best pure point guard of all time and a very good backup versus Francis and Norris. Thats the only matchup we don't have a clear advantage on! Remember these words: And the 2002 NBA Champions...The Utah Jazz!

Did I miss the news? Was there a recent mass exodus of boring white people from Salt Lake Sh---, er, City? Replaced by dazzling urbanites? Because, if not, Shandon won't return to Utah. He might not stay in Houston either, but oh well.

And no one really said we're getting Webber. It could be a smoke screen while we pursue other players.

    Doh! I fed the troll.

Just like Achebe put it..."What I love about this site is that even in the darkest, dullest moments... one of our own poses as a dumbass Jazz fan and posts the most inane drivel. Pretty funny whoever you are!!!"

Ok, ok...so the Jazz really do stink! If they get Van Horn he won't help them if they have to lose Russell and Marshall to get him, they really won't get Shandon Anderson, Doleac is decent but not good enough, the russian guy they have will be a bust, Malone and Stockton will be so old they won't even be able to flop anymore, and DeShawn Stevenson will leave the crappy city as soon as he's a FA.

Yea, well just had to get everyone's minds off all this cryptic stuff. [IMG]

BTW I can't wait until the day when Malone and Stockton announce their retirement and leave the league in dissapointment of never winning a championship! [IMG]

    UtahJazzCheat,

Sorry to awaken you from your wet dream, but Keith Van Horn ain't going anywhere. But anyways, that is a downright absurd trade for the Jazz. You lose the vet Russell, plus your cleanest player who has put up huge numbers! Not to mention a freakin first rounder! Van Horn ain't even an All-Star, and ya'll would trade him for all that? Please, man...
    >
But of course, PULL the trigger!! That would make evry1 else in the league ecstatic!

Right on, slcrocket. YOUR team can rot in hell. You obviously don't know nothing about the Rockets, so don't come in here and tell us that WE won't improve. Cato and Collier won't be our starting center, Taylor will re-sign and, no matter how much you dump on him, he can hit those jumpshots, and has huge flashes of brilliance (plus, he's not our franchise player and probably the 3rd most impt. part of this team unlike Karla who IS your franchise yet can't win the title).
    >
We have 3 draft picks this year. We have millions in cap space. We have stars ON THE RISE (chuckle), and we have some pretty damn good roleplayers, and we got the most liked coach in the L. Barring injuries, we gonna do damage next year. Bank on it, baby. Your Jazz will be rotting at the bottom of the West standings. OK? Believe me.

Unfortunately sf3, I wasn't sure that it was really one of our own. I was just trying to cover two bases and potentially insult a Jazz fan. [IMG]

so ur telling me the rockets who have plenty of cap space and3 draft picks in a good draft will get worse this offseason-have u forgotten to take ur medicine today..i hate to break it to you but ur group showed signs of slowing down last yr and it will only get worse as malone and stockton age..as for fa-we have only had exceptions the last couple of yrs yet we have been able to sign ur beloved shandon anderson and maurice taylor which tells me people like to play here-thus i dont think putting our cap space to good use will be hard whether we get cwebb or not..as for the van horn trade go ahead ull be getting ripped off-but nice publicity move i guess.. i might be a rockets fan but ill say this i do think u guys will decline more this yr and young upstart teams like us will surpass you..i cant wait till u guys turn into the modern day boston celtics actually, which is the path ur headed on right now and will be hard to change since salt lake city isnt a free agent hotbed like an orlando or houston

Looks like Stockton won't be a Jazz next year. If they keep him they pay a luxury tax. Miller said he won't pay it, not even for Stockton...more to come....

Ha! Looks like the Jazz won't get Van Horn anyways.

Feick Injury Could Blow Up Jazz Deal for Van Horn

The curse of New Jersey is already rearing its ugly head again. After the Nets lost several of their key players to injuries last year including Kerry Kittles and Kenyon Martin, it
looks like they could be losing another player, center Jamie Feick, for the entire season next year.

Feick missed all but six games last season following surgery for Achilles tendinitis. His agent, Keith Glass, told the New York Post that the tendon has not healed properly. "I'm not a
doctor, but I can read a report," Glass said. "I haven't been optimistic and I'm staying consistent with that after reading the report which was not encouraging. To say Jamie might not
play this season, I would say there is definitely a chance of that happening."

That's bad news for the Jazz, who have been in serious talks with the Nets about a possible Keith Van Horn for Bryon Russell-Donyell Marshall swap. To make things work cap
wise, the Jazz were eyeing either Feick or forward Aaron Williams to round out the deal. However, with Feick laid up for the year, the Nets might not be able to afford letting Williams
    go.

The Jazz may not be the only suitors for Van Horn. According to the New York Daily News, the Grizzlies and the Clippers have also shown interest in landing Van Horn this summer.
The Grizzlies are reportedly still dangling disgruntled forward Shareef Abdur Rahim while the Clippers would likely offer Corey Maggette and change for Van Horn.

Feick was later quoted as saying I'd hit myself in the back of a leg w/ a sickle if it'd keep out of Utah.
