    Performers

    • Mary J. Blige
    • Cher (first-time nominee)
    • Dave Matthews Band
    • Foreigner (first-time nominee)
    • Peter Frampton (first-time nominee)
    • Kool & The Gang (first-time nominee)
    • Ozzy Osbourne (first-time nominee)
    • A Tribe Called Quest

I'm big fan of Mary J and Tribe Called Quest. Still not familiar with Dave Matthews Band but it made think of @MadMax and his fandom.

I never pay attention to the Hall and I always think for some stupid reason they're gonna run out of legitimate inductees but this class shows me there are a lot of great music acts with significant time making quality innovative music

@Rocketman95 is the ultimate DMB fan

Man, I love me some ATCQ. It’s among my greatest accomplishments that both of my kids love them too. I remember leaving school and driving immediately to Sound Warehouse to buy Low End Theory the day it came out lol.

They should change the name to to the Pop Music Hall of Fame. That being said it's actually pretty cool that' all music acts are eligible.

I guess with music an act is great or not as opposed to sports halls you have the aspect of being compared. to your peers

I think there are infinite arguments that can be made on why X is in and Y is not. So I'm going to needle some folks here and ask...

why is Dave Matthews going in...but Beau Jocque is not in there?

Phew! I'm a little disappointed that Joy Division/New Order/Soundgarden/Oasis weren't inducted, but thank goodness Mary J. Blige's enormous contributions to rock and roll are finally getting recognized.

It's a travesty that Pixies and The Smiths are still not in. Especially The Smiths. They should've been inducted long before Andy Rourke died.

Why the **** is Soundgarden not in there? Alice in Chains? A whole bunch of punk-post punk bands...I'm pretty sure they Rock a little more than Cher.

Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Fugazi, Misfits, etc....

    Yall wanna talk, let's talk.

Most of those bands would probably tell the committee to go **** themselves and never join the ceremony or anything. So I understand the hesitation.

    You're right.

I'd love to see, I'd pay money to see, that "ceremony"

Yet: The Clash, Ramones, Blondie, etc...?

It does seem like everyone gets in. There is an invisible line that I think exists which defines thos who are legends, opposed to those who have a following, and for me that should be the line. The Hall is in Cleveland, so I don't mind that anyone making a trek to that dumpy city, at least get to see their band. That's a good thing, but they ought sift out the legends and put them together. And for me, these would be artists who are known in every creek and crevice of the planet, and who in general are accepted by the industry as masters of the craft.

The Boxing Hall of Fame should be worried. I mean, at this point, should anyone really get in. There will likely be no legends from here on out. And the most famous boxer is likely the fictional one.

Again it's Rock and Roll in name only apparently. It hasn't been the RnR Hall for a long time.

I'm not familiar with all those acts, but obviously Soundgarden is a top five Grunge Band but Mary J is known as the queen of her genre subset
