Sure if Trump wins I’ll be sad but not too bad as I recognize it’s a very close race and either candidate has a shot at winning.

What I do expect that if Trump loses or even if he wins narrowly there will be a lot of howls of “cheating!” From those telling themselves Trump will win in a landslide.

I think if the race is close, which is likely, there will be cries of cheating regardless of who wins. The left will blame misinformation and Russia.

There will be some do that. I don’t expect though that we will be a reverse Jan. 6th. I think if Trump loses I fully expect Jan. 6th 2025 to look similar to Jan 6 2021

I don't. Even if there are a group of angry people, I believe a few smartly erected fences and checkpoints would stimy any repeat attempt.

There will definitely be better security. That doesn’t mean there won’t be the attempt to forcibly pressure Congress to overturn.

Im absolutely certain if Trump loses multiple state will attempt to have false electors again.

If history is a teacher: the left will "blame" mis- and disinformation, interefrence; the right will do much worse than that.

A big problem with Trump's 2020 Big Lie and Russian 2016 election interference is that people talk about these issues only through a partisan lens. They become dismissive or don't pay attention to real challenges to our election system.

Misinformation is not cheating. It's the oldest trick in the book. It's just much more prevalent with social media and one campaign deciding to go all in on not just misinformation, but outright lies and deceits (FEMA, Cat & Dog, ...)

Election interference by foreign powers is exactly that. Russia is interfering. So are China and Iran. How effective- who knows. Domestic actors and social media platforms also play a huge role in amplifying falsehoods through algorithmic boosts, spreading mis- and disinformation faster than ever before. Musk is playing his role (just yesterday, promoted debunked conspiracies about Dominion voting machine). There are also coordinate disinformation campaigns, deep fakes and AI-genrated content sprading false claims, bot, hacks, etcs. This is just the reality we face.

What was completely fabricated and not true are:
    - voting machines are compromised or manipulated
    - illegal voting in massive numbers, dead people voting in large number
    - election workers are throwing away votes or adding non-existing votes
    - massive illegal mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting conspiracies
    - (?? who knows what is coming next ??)

What is ongoing, and while legal, are technicalities aimed at disenfranchising voters
    - removing mass number of voters from the voting roll without adequate notice (it's not legal to do this 90 days before the election, but VA is doing it and got sued)
    - making it more difficult to vote (envelope must be dated correctly, not allowing voters a chance to correct mistakes on mail-in ballots, reducing # of ballot boxes, etcs)
    - Changes to election rules too close to election day

    What could get worse:
    - Election officials refusing to certify (it happened in 2022 and the court had to order them to certify)
    - Schemes like fake electors (this is illegal)
    - Congress refusing to certify (attempted in 2020 but failed)
    - Intimidating eleciton workers
    - Threats against election officials
    - Local election boards interfering (GA election board in particular)
    ...

    I said 3.

I can get over most of the policy issues, though I think the financial ones aren't great (neither party has great financial strategies, in different ways), and banning abortion outright would be one of the greatest injustices done to the American public by our government in this country's history (right up there with privatized medical insurance, among others). I will have policy dislikes no matter who is elected.

I would just mostly be sad because I wouldn't be able to stand the person in office himself. That's not the kind of person I want my kids to grow up thinking is a leader.

*This also assumes everything happens smoothly, there are no riots, no whiny tantrums that the election wasn't fair, etc.

    2 out of 10.

I am pretty jaded as I have gotten older and lived long enough to see wonderful and terrible things happen.

    Just one quick clarification...

For the record. It won't just be the left talking about misinformation. Vance is already doing that in regards to 2020.

When he refused to answer the question about the election of 2020, his question was about the silence on the Hunter Biden computer and if that cost Trump votes.

Sad for the country. Unless Congress is a check, Trump will do crazy damage to the country as a Democracy. Based on his words.

I will blame the many racists and fools that voted for a repeat of Trump's failed presidency.

Thankfully I won't have to though.
