White Sox and Twins gearing up to sell the team and Cardinals positioning for a rebuild could play in Houston’s favor.
Framber Tucker Dubon B.Abreu Urquidy McCormick Pena Meyers Garcia Murfee Those are the 10 arbitration eligible players. Outside of Urquidy who will miss most if not all of 2025, every one of those players should be worth more in on-field value than their salary. Which 6 ( most) do you want to just "let go"?
Diaz is the better defensive catcher so if both are in the lineup it should be Caratini at 1B and Diaz at catcher, unless it’s for rest. I would try to play Diaz at 1B as little as possible
Defense actually ages really well... Vizquel and Ozzie were still registering as elite defenders deep into their careers.
I would cut all of them except Tucker/Framber/Pena Garcia/Dubon because I would use the money to get one above avg level player. I might also keep Chas if I thought he was a bounce back candidate, but would most likely trade him if I could get value for him. I'm in the same boat for trading Tucker/Framber and Dubon if I got proper value for them. Like I've said before there should be no sacred cows this offseason when it comes to filling the holes in the lineup.
He has an offseason and spring. I think the assumption exists he can be adequate with focused time to learn. I'm not sure what your deal is, but it's really just pointless. I'm just muting you at this point.
I'm thinking in advance. Caratini is gone in a year. If Yainar catches less it likely means he can focus on improving his bat more. If you can get a young catcher under club control to catch most of the games and you're still average or better offensively, I see no downside. Yainar can still catch 50 games. I'm thinking long term and other people think there is nothing after 2025. Catching more games doesn't make Yainar a better hitter.
Nope add 2 bats bats and a bat hopefully that's 2023 Chas level of bat. A Tyler O'Neil level bat. Give me the Arrenado/Contreras trade (Snakes idea) and a Robert trade. Then go with one of the young Whitcomb/Melton or even Dubon in LF. You could also play Contreras some at MMP in LF and play Singleton at 1B some against RHP. BTW, Ibelieve Robert has the ability to be a top 10-15 player and will be a great fit in the clubhouse. I also believe Lowe is a much better middle of the order bat. Something Chas isn't and will never be and I like Chas a lot.
I'm thinking about winning now and for the next 5 years. The things you're talking about dont need to be happening until 2028-2030.
This team has a full time DH and unless you are willing to play Alvarez in LF full time there is not a place to put Altuve except at second base.
Nope. Pressly isn't bringing back a top 100 type, but he will be traded without a prospect or paying any of the salary. He has enough value to bring back an organizational #11-20 prospect.
