Lame. He was doing well with the few touches he was getting. Bummer. Guess they have more confidence in Ogunbowale and Brooks than I do. Let’s hope Mixon nor Pierce go down or else our depth suddenly gets murky.
I'm assuming they're trying to do right by Akers and give him an opportunity to fight for a #2 spot on a good team. It's a little dodgy given how important that position is to our offense, but this means they're comfortable with Dare at #3. It also means they might expect to pick up a better back via trade/waivers/FA if the situation arises.
Why the hell didnt they showcase him more, when Mixon was out to get more value out of him? They probably wouldve only lifted the condition on the sixth rounder they received but still.
Mixon and Pierce have already both been out at the same time this year. Why weaken the roster for a late pick next year?
And that might be on him lol..he had a lot of space for me to be upset about this in the absence of Pierce and Mixon...and I'm not upset about this.
Shrug. Not really losing anything. Nice of Houston to give Akers his release to a team that will be able to give him more playing time. Just a professional courtesy. Good luck to him.
He doesnt play special teams and Dare moved ahead of him on the RB heirarchy. He would of been inactive every game. I'll take it. Getting anything for your RB4 who doesnt play special teams sounds like a good deal.
Wasn't Akers good in the preseason while DP was terrible? What did DP do to flip the situation? Several here wanted DP traded and Akers made RB2.
DP played preseason with a hamstring injury, Akers was relatively healthy, now DP is fully healthy. It still might now work but they didn’t cut him and seem to really like the guy so they're going to give a shot to show what he showed his rookie season
