My only concern with Ime (and it's just a concern right now) is that he's going to lean on guys longer than he should because he "trusts" them. I saw some concerning things vs the Thunder (like a certain someone being reintroduced into the starting lineup and the entire offense looked like a mess). We have two guys in the offense that certain teams will easily coerce into taking bad shots.
I predict Alpi is pushing to be top 10 THIS year and top 3 and challenging for MVP by the 26-27 season. He could very well challenge for MVP this year.
To a degree, it will depend on how quickly and clearly Ime and the team will commit to the inevitable outcome that Alpi is the franchise player. If they are still trying to accommodate lesser players, it might have a negative impact on the team and on Alpi. I trust that Ime will force the right choices.
Last season there was 1 challenger for mvp, jokic. He was in a class by himself, unmatched and untouchable. Current jokic is playing at a top 5 all time level. He’s in the peak shaq/hakeem/kareem group. To challenge that, Sengun would need to at the very least match peak magic/duncan level, and convincingly pass guys like luka/giannis. We’ll likely win 55-60 games though, which would be cool.
I'd personally not object to any ranking placing Sengun between 25th and 35th. Anything below is undermining him, and anything above is hyperbole for now.
By VORP, > 5.0 usually makes you top 8-15. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Alpi achieve that ranking this year
Yeah, maybe if they gave us a bunch of their picks coming up, that team is about to crash. Straight up? What a joke.
