Sofia Falcone isn't a gender swap, she's an established character in the Bats mythos and from what I understand the show version of her is close to the comic...... https://batman.fandom.com/wiki/Sofia_Falcone
Why exactly are ppl calling this a “gender swap”? Sofia Falcone is the daughter of Carmine Falconeand a member of the Falcone Crime Family. She served as one of her father's main enforcers during Batman's investigations into . After Carmine was murdered by Two-Face, Sofia took control of the Falcone Crime Family, though found herself in contention with new "freaks" in Gotham City. In secret, she was operating as the serial killer Hangman, targeting people who'd contributed to Harvey Dent's prosition as District Attorney.
I've enjoyed the first two episodes. It seems to be the story of how the penguin rises to power. In the show, he's not a crime boss at all - quite the contrary; he's kinda looked down upon by the crime bosses, and we see him manipulating his way around them in order to get power. The story is interesting and so are the characters.
I love when these HBO series's do this. Highly intriguing to start and then drops an incredible episode to hook you in like the 3rd through 5th episodes. I'm love every moment of Sophia and overall just the mob/comic dynamic. I love all the women in this show
The acting in this episode is amongst the best I've seen since Succession. All 3 mains did such an amazing job playing off of each other. The bathroom exchange made my jaw drop.
Finally caught up on this. I knew Matt Reeves would be involved in this show but since he wasn't the writer or director I wasn't sure how involved, but I think his presence is really felt. The show has been incredible and I really hope it sticks the landing because everything about it so far I have absolutely loved. The world they are creating in Gotham, the way they are showing the aftermath of what Riddler did in the prior movie, the depth they are giving Penguin and the way they show the power dynamics within the family and between the different divisions. I feel like I KNOW this town and how it works and we are only 3 episodes in. Just tremendous story-telling and the acting has all been top notch as well.
The episodes have been getting better and better, really enjoying this show a lot more than I expected.....
Guess I'm doing an injustice watching this before The Batman.. but I only gave it a try after my son swore by it.. A+++ so far... Crazy chick attractive as ****
So. It's actually good? Worth watching if I don't give a **** about any of the DC movie stuff? I do like Colin P. And the Long Halloween era. But not typically a fan of Penguin...
Agreed. When Sofia's character was first introduced, it seemed like she was not only a Mafia power, but also a psycho killer. In this episode, we learn that neither was the case and I felt sorry for Sofia. Then, we finish the episode with her becoming exactly what she was framed for. Good stuff.
