If I have to eat at a large chain then it’s Bojangles. A smaller, regional chain that makes pretty good chicken is Champy’s

Bojangles is in the beginning stages of a big expansion into greater Houston, too. About to get one at 99/Kuykendahl and at 99/Birnham Woods. Looking forward to it.

    Seconding Gus's in downtown Austin...
    Top Notch
    Lucy's
    Flyrite's chicken sandwich

Those are a drive if you live in north Austin, so Popeye's Tuesday special is the go-to.

The Post Chicken and Beer (the bar at the Historic Stanley Hotel where the shining was shot) in Estes Park Colorado has some excellent Fried Chicken (and it happens to be gluten free).

I will never boycott Cane's. Even if I've learned how to make their sauce on my own.

Can't you just buy a sandwich that's on their bread?

I had a friend tell me about how good Bojangles was, so I was happy when they were opening up shop in Texas. Went to one only to find out the one thing they're apparently known best for, their fried chicken, isn't on the menu at their new locations. All they have are tenders. Don't ask me - I don't understand. *whomp* *whomp*. Their dirty rice was alright, nothing outstanding, though.

I tried Gus's when I went to Memphis/Nashville one time. It was awesome.

I had never even heard of Maryland being known for fried chicken. Of course I never knew half the crap places I've been to "are known for". Cincinnati for chili (lol), Memphis for spaghetti with bbq sauce (wth), Kentucky for mutton bbq, etc, etc. Anyway, I found this about actual "Maryland style fried chicken".
