Bregman ain’t signing for that little. Otherwise it’s not unrealistic and a pretty good roster even with subbing Dezenzo for Bregman.
That’s unfounded. It’s just your guess and there is really nothing to base it on. a good defensive catcher who can also hit is an advantage over most teams.
You are probably right but a guy can hope, can't he. . . I ? My plan for Dezenzo, if Bregman resigns, is to be the everyday 1b in Sugar Land with maybe some short injury and then September callups then replacing Santana/Singleton in 2026. Santana is a mentor to Diaz. If Yainer can learn to hit the ball in the air (and maybe walk once in a while?) then he becomes a .900 OPS guy and gradually moves off of catcher in a few years, just like Santana did. Catcher is a grind and you don't want that kind of bat exhausted by September he won't be 25 forever.
He would be platooning w/ Whitcomb on the team I put together. The better/faster Shay develops the less Heyward plays.
Your plan still works if you sub in Santander for Bregman and somebody like Gio Urshela or Kyle Farmer for Heyward. The defense maybe downgrades slightly but the offense would be better. 2B Altuve LF Santander DH Alvarez RF Tucker 1B Santana C Diaz CF Robert 3B Urshela SS Pena Bench: Dubon, Caratini, Singleton, Whitcomb
But it *should* reduce the senseless load management and ... the number of disappointed fans when they drive down for a game and realize Altuve and the like have a "scheduled day off"... also increase the likelihood of not seeing an AAAA caliber starting pitcher.
Losing Season, plus Star Players moving up quickly. Dana Brown, Jim Crane need to do a better job in Coaching Staffs, Trainers.
I think your estimate of Bregmans AAV is incorrect. The 7th year option would not be counted until such time that it is exercised, so the AAV would be 26.16MM. However, these calculations are often confusing to me, so I acknowledge I could be mistaken
True but you could easily sign Lowe, Comforto and trade for Robert with the money they have available and trading Pressly, Caratini.
That's why I said he should still catch some and they should find another young catcher who can hit some too. Think about what you're saying.... I'm saying get more of what you're saying is so good... you're saying no to that.....
I'd say if on the table, move Framber to Cubs for Matt Shaw and Moises Ballesteros. That's their #1 and #4 prospects. Both performed we in AAA last year. With savings, resign Kikuchi. If Bregman walks they have Shaw for 3B. If Bregman stays, they can DH Shaw some. Ballesteros adds to catching and 1B depth. Between him, Caratini, or Yainar; an everyday 1B and Catcher should emerge. CF is trickier without moving prospects... depends on what the cost would be I suppose. Altuve Bregman Alvarez Tucker Diaz McCormick Shaw Ballesteros Pena Brown Kikuchi Blanco Arrighetti Garcia
Yep. Really great scenario if Astros can pull it off. I don’t really want to re-sign Bregman. We can still be competing with Dicenzo at 3b and Matthews on the way.
