I ****ing hope "the stache" does not become his nickname. I may even prefer the atrocious "cocaine Curry" (why we naming him after our nemesis again?)
We need to remember he’s just a rookie, and it takes time to adjust to the game. I'm curious to see how his ball handling stacks up against Amen. If one of them takes over for Fred, the point guard will obviously need to have solid ball handling skills.
Looked a little stiff yesterday but it's the first game. His mid range game is so crazy. Going to be a minute before we can pencil him in over Fred though.
He is going to be very good......just has to adjust to the speed, and size....but his shot making, and passing and BBall IQ were on full display - he just needs playing time to sort it out. DD
The great thing is that we don't have to rush Sheppard. He can spend as much time learning behind FVV as necessary. We also have a lot of flexibility in that area: we can decline FVV's option, accept it, or decline it and negotiate a short extension based on Sheppard's development.
All that glazing from folks for Sheppard to replace green from the getgo. At least expectations now are tempered down and folks realize that rookies do take time to develop, not everybody is as great as sengun.
Perhaps, though I seriously doubt it. I think he'll establish himself as FVV's backup pretty quickly and average something like 15 - 18 mpg.
He had a mixed bag in his first preseason game, his 3 ball wasn't falling, but he was contributing on defense and keeping the ball moving. He'll need to be better, but it's not like he has any serious competition for the backup PG role.
I'm officially bothered about the three point shot until they start going in. The athleticism and length of the NBA may be a problem for Reed. Maybe it's the distance or a mental issue. Some of his misses are open threes in rhythm. Summer League and Preseason 3 Pointers by game: 4-6 1-5 0-2 0-5 0-4 Other parts of his game look pretty good but the shooting has to come around.
