This vote was 2 weeks ago, not 2 years ago:

I have no idea what the morons at Heritage are on about, but I guess "privatize the weather" in an age of climate change is their angle?

Speaker of the House from Louisiana - any need for legislation on hurricanes, or honestly, anything?

Nope, because Trump won't allow it. Wait till November people

Mike Johnson: There’s No Rush For Congress To Approve Hurricane Relief
“We’ll be back in session immediately after the election,” the House speaker said of waiting until November for Congress to vote on emergency funding.

    Man **** these people.

Just 10 years ago these people would have been hounded out of office for dereliction- but now they are just allowed to be Russian backed ghouls and that's just....the way it is

Clown post from a clown who sees that Kamala's awful response to the storms is torpedoing her campaign. Kamala is now trying to politicize the Florida hurricane -- Desantis is having NONE of it. She's never helped during a storm before -- never called him to help... until now. Her latest political blunder. Watch Desantis destroy her below.

We all know they just want the ability for the Republican autocratic president to award funds and help out those states and cities they want to help while using the funds as a weapon to punish those who oppose them.

It’s not that they want to just do away with FEMA funds. No these guys don’t care about saving money. It’s about power, corruption, and authoritarianism.

You have never contributed anything of substance, or at least something funny, in your 22 years of miserable existence on this message board.

    (Except sometimes about football.)

When hateful people like yourself who have lost their moral compass are intellectually unable to hold their own, they try to drag other people's kids into it. Seen it before.

    In the meantime:

I am doing my part to help educate you.

Younger generations steer away from your ilk over time. You know things like slavery, Nazi sh*t like your grandfather. That's why gay marriage is legal now in the US (even though your ilk is somehow trying to reverse it) So odds are your kids won't be a bigot like you and will be normal well adjusted people without so much animosity towards people that are different than themselves. I wish them all the best of luck to be better than you.

and btw you fcking genius. I don't watch "legacy" media. I listen/read to people who are self funded by their own audience. Not the people that you are posting that often are financed by other billionaires. Or as it came out recently by russia directly. Or the person in this post who IS AN ACTUAL BILLIONAIRE. this post shows how purposely ignorant you are because no one could be that dumb.

    Before Landfall, the Biden administration:

Made and Emergency Declaration of the area
Declared it a Public Health Emergency so that services could be provided.

    They provided:
    1500 Federal personnel were deployed
940 Search and Rescue personnel were deployed
8,000 U.S. Coast Guardsmen were deployed
2 teams from the Army Core of Engineers were deployed
DHHS deployed 2 Health Teams to assists hospitals providing critical care
FEMA surge was activated to mobilize people more quickly
The Federal government stage 2.7 million meals, 2.6 million liters of water, 50,000 tarps, 10,000 cots, 20,000 blankets
The pre-positioned 70,000 gallons of diesel fuel, 40,000 gallons of gasoline,
They sourced hundreds of ambulances to be positioned in those areas
The Dept. of Energy, EPA, DHHS, HUD, Dep. of Agriculture were all activated for emergency response

    After landfall, Biden sent

1,500 active duty soldiers for support food and water delivery, debris removal support
Plus 22 helicopters, search & rescue support, temporary power teams, 700 National Guardsmen in NC alone.

As of yesterday they have shipped:

8.5 million meals, 7 million liters of water, 150 generators, 220,000 tarps. They are working to restore power, water, and have extended housing aid to affected families. Biden has declared 41 counties as Major Disaster areas giving them access to even more funding and resources.

True, they didn't tour the area for photo ops, but most Presidents wait before doing so. This is because they no their presence is a distraction more than a help. Being on the ground takes resources like law enforcement, emergency personnel, food, water, roads and transportation that could otherwise be used for victim assistance.

Meanwhile, 100 republicans voted against additional disaster funding for FEMA, and Speaker Johnson refuses to reconvene Congress to supply and additional funding until after the election.

Extreme weather events are the #1 top long-term global risk, threatening $30 trillion in global GDP. Many companies are developing AI for kilometer-scale weather prediction (NOAA and DoD are working with these startups). I'm not saying there is a connection, but "privatizing the weather" could be a massive win for these firms, granting huge power to whoever controls this tech.

FACTS simply do not matter to the post-fact, shared alternative reality group.

The top 1% sees a new way to make money at the tax payer's expense. Private industry can easily make 10x what FEMA costs, for doing the same job.

This has been true for decades, but it has become more obvious since 2016. The GOP insists government is bad, and through their actions—defunding, dismantling, and undermining institutions—they make it bad. By hollowing out its effectiveness, they create the very dysfunction they point to as proof.

    However...

From Reagan through the Bush administration, there was a genuine belief in limited government. Trump, on the other hand, departs from that tradition. While he claims government is bad, his solution is to replace it with loyalists. Suddenly, government becomes beneficial—just for the wealthy, the powerful, and the states and individuals he favors.
