I would like to participate in a fantasy basketball league if there are some that will be starting up here. When I was in Houston, I used to do one with some friends, but now that I'm in DC I need to do the online draft. Can anyone fill me in on some clutchcity leagues?
Last year I was in a fantasy basketball league with some of you guys. It went well and I would very much be interested in a new league for this upcoming season. Yahoo Fantasy Basketball has recently opened up for 2004-2005. Anyone here feel like organizing a new clutchfans league?
I want in! I've been commissioner for a Yahoo fantasy head-to-head league once before. If no one else is gonna do it, I would, but surely we've got some hard core fantasy ballers here who are gonna do a league again. I'd like to get in on that, if possible. Otherwise, I would love to start one up for everybody.
I like h2h, I suggest we use clutchfans' usernames here as players' team names. we need agree on league setup though, any ideas?
Head to Head, trade deadline a week or so after the NBA's, most of the standard categories (pts, rebs, steals, blocks, fg%, ft%, 3pt%, a/t ratio). I don't like the redundant categories, like having assists and turnovers, you sometimes inevitably win one and lose the other ... I think the ratio is the fairest score-keeper here. Same way with 3 pointers ... percentage indicates that your team is shooting well that week. If you just get points for hitting 3's it kind of unfairly helps out teams with guys who just jack up shots, inevitably hitting a few. The scoring categories that require the smartest, most consistent play reward the owner who is smartest in the drafting and managing process. Also, I like the waiver wire to be immediate. This rewards owners who are most involved and up to date in the League. The worst thing in the world is when owners sleep on their teams ... this just drags down the level of competition. I think everybody here wants to be in league that is very competitive. Other than that, there's not much else that the Commissioner can change. I don't think Yahoo allows for a vote among owners on trades. The Commissioner can veto trades however, and if the owners are in communication with the Commissioner that could be done through a vote. In any case, trades that are unreasonably or blatantly unbalanced, trades that go against the spirit of fair competition, should not be allowed. Anyway, that's how I like my leagues to be set up.
I don't suppose y'all bothered to look at this thread. It's been up for a while. http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=84511
Alright guys, I'll set up a league on Tuesday/Wednesday ... be patient ... I'm in law school, so sometimes I'm busy ... but don't worry, I'm passionate about fantasy basketball and the Rockets, so I'm ready to get going. Also, I've noticed about 3 guys here sound excited, but we need more ... I think a league needs at least 8 teams, and 10-12 is ideal. If you guys can pass the word along to serious owners, then please do. I'll set it up and post the information here.
Now I'm going to reply to myself because I checked out more carefully that thread Darkhorse linked too ... and it is basketball! If those guys need more players then we should definitely just join their league instead of starting a competing one. I thought FBL meant FootBaLL, not Fantasy Basket Ball. Sorry!
I see that another League has been opened up ... but I'm going to go ahead and do a third. One of the reasons for this is the setting on league #2 include 2 day waivers, but I think immediate waivers is better. Life moves pretty fast in fantasy basketball. We'll see if we fill up ... but I think we need at least 8 to have a fun, competitive league.
I have created a third league, but I'm going to hold off making it public because cuttino has created one, and they need players. He was first, and I urge everyone who wants to play to join his league. Also his league has a decent draft in the evening, whereas there really aren't any draft times left for the evening. I had to set mine for noon.
