Jabari Smith is still only 21, and won't turn 22 until after the season. He's still extremely young. As a 20 year old he showed across the board improvement last season while playing big minutes on a team that finished .500 and had a top 10 defense. While I get some of the disappointment, I don't think people are giving enough consideration to his age and the physical development that takes place at that time.
It's even worse because the Mavs Team scored 60 pts in those 4:24 (20.9 partial possessions?). 38 points from Luka and 22 from his teammates. We definitely should avoid this matchup.
I took a picture on my phone during media day this year, then later looked up the media day from his rookie year. Not lying it was a profound difference in 2 years. Arms shoulder. Also his face was almost gaunt in his rookie year in comparison to now. He has to be some extent stronger.
Wait what? The Mavs scored 60 points in 4:24 of game time against the rockets? Is that even possible?
Not seeing any improvement at all. He is basically moving the same as last year. Maybe time to consider having him come off the bench
Yeah so far he looks the same. But its preseason game one. Plenty of time to assess him. If he keeps looking like he is then yeah a bench role would seem fitting.
This 100%. I'd actually love to see what Jalen/Cam/Amen/Tari/Sengun looks like if Jalen stays engaged on D like tonight but FVV/Jalen/Amen/Tari/Sengun sounds like an experiment that needs to happen sooner rather than later. Amen/Tari could be one of the best defensive pairings we've ever had.
Few things, Eason is hardly ever healthy and I think starting him with Sengun would be a mistake. He's not a willing passer, he has major tunnel vision issues while Bari and Sengun have some good chemistry together. I don't think it's that simple as just swapping them out. I'm not as high on Tari anymore because he never plays, the guy I doubt has developed because he simply hasn't consistently played at all. I also doubt Tari spaces the floor like Bari does, not that he's hitting the 3 at a great rate but teams do have to respect his shot. I really think Jabari is best for the starting lineup, I'd start Green before I'd start Tari even if healthy because of those issues of shooting and decision making on offense.
Jabari Smith Year 1 3p% - 30.7% Jabari Smith Year 2 3p% - 36.3% Jabari Smith career 3p% - 33.5% Tari Eason Year 1 3p% - 34.3% Tari Eason Year 2 3p% - 36.0% Tari Eason career 3p% - 34.7% Why you lyin for?
Yeah, because Tari's sample size is tiny because he barely plays and isn't known as a three point shooter. Jabari has shot like 500 more threes than him.
A starter's shot more threes than somebody coming off the bench? I'm absolutely shocked to my core at this information, how can this be?!
