Not so much now - there are areas that new immigrants tend to go to. However all the 2nd-3rd generation move out. There is an area where Ukrainians live, but all these areas for new immigrants.

Polish area is basically gone. There is some Chinatown left but it is full of recent immigrants. Same with Little Italy…. They just don’t mean anything anymore - except for the black areas of town, about half the black people have moved out but there are still a lot.

In a lot of cities like NYC, SF, and Houston older Chinatowns are dying out and newer ones have sprung up further out from the central city. Is that the case with Chicago?

Not really. There are some areas that will have a few stores next to each other, but these are mostly new immigrants as well. We have a few tiny spots for Japanese - but it will literally be a single store.

They will tell you “China Town” is extending in distance downtown but it’s less dense than it was and most of the people living there are Chinese immigrants and not 2nd and 3rd generation. There are like 9,000 - 10,000 Chinese Americans in this area and if I had to guess, 80% were not born in the USA. So these people’s children almost always move to other parts of the cities. My theory is that it is because Chinese/Koreans/Japanese have in general been very financially and educationally successful in Chicago. The numbers as a whole are very successful - 2nd generation has been very successful and they tend to move to wealthier areas.

That's because those people got rich and had a bunch of kids so they had to move out to the burbs where there's less crime and homeless people

I almost get the feeling our woke leftists that idolize the squad are incredulously mad and upset that Israel obviously has insiders from within "Palestine" free pagers !
