Given how the league has slowly turned into a defensive league, the services of Risacher or even Sarr would be in high demand.
I see him more of a Chauncey Billups type .....the homeless man's version of Nash should go to Tyler Kolek.
I love that Chauncey comp. Nash was an elite ballhandler and passer but had almost no mid range shot creation for himself. Chauncey, like Reed, had a serviceable handle but was a much better individual scorer and a much much better defender. That should be much closer to what we can expect from Reed.
The sharpshooting mentality is cool but it also limits his mind .....he is able to score on more levels. That is why I think it is very important for him to understand he can do so much more than just 3 point shooting and being a specialist.
Exactly! Reed will use his floor time to figure out what he can get away with at this level and what areas need the most improvement. Putting limits on him now are just silly. LOL, let's give it at least half a season so our opinions will be less ignorant. The intense hate parade on Amen after he returned from injury/illness last season should be instructive to everyone.
Once they enter their respective primes, if I had to give them a video game score out of 100, I see it approx. like 94 Alpi 90+ Amen, Reed 85+ Jalen, Cam 80+ Bari, Tari
Even though I am super bullish on Reed, I hope people will give it time. Even Kidd and Nash and Stockton and Price needed a few years to ramp up their production.
If 3 years into his career he's shooting under 34% from 3 with a 54% TS%, you can bet I'll be calling him a bust.
I will admit, I was a bit worried that his size and the physicality of the NBA would take a bit of an adjustment period but I was wrong.
They definitely oversold the narrative about his size. It got so crazy you'd think he was as small as FVV or CP3
I'm still worried about the on-ball defense and lateral quickness. As evidenced in the clip that's making the rounds, he often gets those stocks while being beat or out of position. I hope it translates or he can fix the positioning.
How much of that is him being incapable of staying in front of his man and how much of it is intentional, giving players what they think is a clean shot only to block them? He seems to do it all the time with positive results so I think it's at least plausible that he's doing it on purpose as a trap.
So long as the results are positive I don't really care if it's intentional or not.... but a guy like him isn't going to try and out muscle the ball handler and he shouldn't.
I thought about this too. But that's a dangerous game to play vs NBA guards. I'm hopeful but skeptical. His ability to stay in front of man may dictate how much playing time he receives this year.
